There’s no “accident” in college football.

Gee, and here I thought that the Process never let anything slip between the cracks.

Wednesday was supposed to be the final day of the week in which Georgia had a portion of practice open to the media.

Instead, as reporters were heading to practice, information was relayed that the wrong time was given to be able to see what was going on.

“Late apologies from football but they gave us the incorrect start time by accident today,” a team representative wrote in a statement at 4:25 p.m. “The open period out at the practice fields has come and gone.”

The first period of practice was slated to be open.

Therefore, there are no updates Wednesday as to what occurred at practice.

Actually, I still don’t.

Hey, at least there was an apology.  The media wouldn’t get that much from the Coke bottle.

I can’t help but wonder if this is all subterfuge about the QBs. Eason gets all the reps last week and then plays the majority of the Saturday scrimmage. Speculation abounds that it’s his job – the media stops just shy of crowning him. Then Kirby gives Lambert the #1 snaps the next two practices this week (at least for the media viewing session of those practices). Then, mysteriously, Wednesday’s final media viewing session gets fouled up, so no intel regarding QBs. I’m not sure if Kirby is playing games with the media or UNC or what. I hope that’s not the case, as the team has greater concerns for opening week.

That was exactly what I thought, right from when Lambert was reported to take the first snaps with the #1s.
Then again, if Kirby really wanted to mess with the press, he would’ve run Ramsey out with the #1s on Monday.

He already told the press two days ago that he would look at an announcement “in a couple of days”. Today he announces that Greyson is starting. So?

If Kirby wants to mess with the media , it’s his show and he can do whatever he likes without our input. Why would anyone not want him to coach and keep secret all of his game practices? Frankly, I’m as hungry as anyone for info from practices, but if there is none because the coach doesn’t want to let the other team know what we are practicing against them then he knows best.

At least they didn’t criticize a single member of the sports media for making an error of geography as metaphor for not taking their opinions on football seriously. That would be way out of line.

In comparison, lying to all of sports media just so they don’t see practice seems reasonable. When it comes to expressing contempt for sports media some are more equal than others.

The beauty part of it is that it shows that CKS doesn’t give a rats ass what you or me or anyone else thinks about it.

And I like it all the better for the fact that it apparently bothers you. Ha.

Two things: 1) that’s a shared quality and 2) you’ve missed the point entirely. Hint: look at the comments section below the Melton post from yesterday, then come back to this.

What great about this exchange is that I was fully aware of your comments from yesterday and how you kept harping on what you perceived as an injustice being done to a reporter who didn’t know that NC shared a border with GA. The horse is dead but you’ve chosen to beat it.

But that isn’t a surprise to me or anyone else here familiar with your history.

I was harping on an injustice done to a reporter? I’d say that’s a reading comprehension problem to the extreme. I’m fine with whatever rep you want to pin on me, but it would be nice if it were based in fact.

The point is that CKS and I both share contempt for sports media. However, his overt expressions of it are fine with everyone while my observation made me an asshole. Not that I shy away from the label, but let’s just apply it for the right reasons and be consistent.

Ha. Stuff like this is confirmation for me that CKS was the right hire.

    I think it’s hilarious.

This has to be a first, but I agree with you even though I’m a Richter. That said, I ain’t got one thang to say about Kirby’s tactics.

Frankly, I think that Kirby is playing the “How to Keep an Asshole in Suspense” game. You know, the one where the answer is “I’ll tell you next week”>

When Kirby mentions the speed at which sh*t moves through a tin horn then we will know the Process has been fully installed.

Or when he’s willing to play QB shuffle for the first several games of the season.

If we win on Saturday this will all be cute. If we lose this will all blow up in Kirby’s face.

Of course, there’s always the possibility that it actually was simply a screw up on somebody’s part. It could happen.

If CKS learned anything useful at all about the process, it’s to not have time for that shit. I hope Mark Bradley’s day was ruined.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. And sometimes, a blown handout is just a screwup by some intern. Does anyone think Nick is proofreading handouts on the practice schedule before the press gets them?

I know reporters love to perceive slights against themselves by the evil, arrogant, overpaid tyrants who run major college football programs, but oddly enough, not everything is about them. Someone screwed up. An apology was offered. It’s not like anyone was teaching atom splitting at practice, or like some dark wizardry was about to be revealed. This is a yawner.
