“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
That Safety was one for the ages..And it so tech.. BWAHAHHA..

My wife literally said, “That safety is so Tech.” It’s was one of my proudest moments.

Actually a good play for them. If Clemson recovers the fumble in the end zone, it’s a touchdown.

Not a good play: He should have knelt it and not tried to run out of the endzone. He was going to be tackled at like the 1, so starting at the 20 would be better

^This. It was a stupid play for Tech to try to run the ball out and then fumble back into the EZ no matter who recovered. The kid makes a nice INT and then goes brain dead.

Granted. But once he fumbles, this is the better outcome for Tech.

Really. If that play doesn’t perfectly sum up the one-step-forward-two-steps-back state of Tech football in the 21st century, I don’t know what does.

What a joke.

Helluva first impression to make on your new boss’s first day.

CPJ is already signed up for four more seasons after this one.
It’s a big reason why there IS a new boss.

That game was a thing of beauty. And the safety was the most Tech play ever.
Glorious.

The best part was the GT student section celebrating the Clemson score.
So Tech.

Absolutely. To me, that was part and parcel of the totality of the play. Players and fans alike celebrated until the ref revealed the bitter truth.
And I loved every second of it.

Isnt that safety exactly like the safety UGA was awarded in the 99 Jasper non-fumble game when Jasper didn’t fumble, the Tech DB who picked up the ball was IN the field of play, then backed into the end zone and downed it the end zone? Oh wait……..
any Tech fan who claims the zebras got any of that right is either a liar or a damned idiot.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who immediately thought of Al Ford’s incompetence.

I did the math last night…y’all realize we haven’t legitimately lost there since 1989…? Crazy.

Yes. I know Chris Young..the GT player that recovered the “fumble”.
When I’ve asked him to look me in the face and tell me it was legit, he can’t do it. He just laughs. Can’t say I blame him.
Remember when we beat Auburn by refusing to unpile just outside the goal line while the clock ran out? I still laugh (well..smile) about it but Auburn people (the ones old enough) are still angry.

God, you had to go there.
It still feels like that happened yesterday. The anger and pain of that play will never fade for me. Ever.

The second half adjustments were Genuis like!
Jesse and the crew totally missed that was a safety and then tried to play it off like they knew all along.

Got in from the airport and turned on the game. Clemson was up 23-0. I hate both schools but of course would pull for North Korea vs. tech. How much longer can they put up with PJ? I hope a long time…………..

And just saw the safety. Could not get any better

When I watch Tech lose like this it’s almost as much fun as Georgia winning.

Only time I got mad was when Clemson screwed up and let Tech score in the 4th. Venebles was the scout team QB for them and I’m 100% sure he wanted to hand the “genius” a home shutout.

Tech’s scoring drive was mostly Clemson penalties. They had no offense all night.
Clemson’s offense sleep walked through the second half, though.

I only saw a little of the first half, but what I saw was strange. On defense, the Tech corners and safeties seemed to think the Clemson receivers all suffered from Ebola. They got nowhere near them.

Venables’ defense put on a clinic on how to totally shut down every phase and wrinkle of that offense. I hope UGA’s coaches were recording that domination, I have never seen it done better. His test against Louisville will be the big one.

“We’ve just got to get better from this. We can’t let this happen again.” It appears The Johnson is confused about his personal pronoun definition.

Yep. When he wins, “we” becomes “I”.
(Don’t really know that, but it seems like a cool thing to claim!)

I enjoyed the game last night. About the safety, it was the correct call and the same call Al Ford and crew should have made after they blew the Jasper Sanks “fumble” call.
Piss on Tech.

Oh, and the refs screwed Clemson out of a lateral fumble recovery as well. Should have been worse.

There was also quite the double standard on pass interference calls.

Yeah, Jesse Hairgel said how the refs were consistent and “letting them play” all night, except of course for the PI call in the first half that gave Tech their only first down up until that point.

Both teams played spotty last night and I saw a lot of standing around by blockers in the vicinity of the ball for both sides. We could have beaten both teams last night if they continued to play that way versus UGA. Last night’s team looked like a JV team, but no matter how shitty Tech has looked during the season, they seem to improve for us at the end of the season.
Hopefully, by the time we play them, it will be similar to using a fresh pancake to wipe up the leftover syrup.

I saw Desmond Howard refer to this as a nice warm-up game for Clemson prior to Louisville next week. It warmed the coldest cockles of my Dawg heart that Georgia Tech is nationally considered a tune-up game for the top of the league.

Pretty sure that Paul Johnson was letting Clemson score so GT could get the ball back..its a patented strategy ; if you dont understand its cause youre not smart.
Now lets pull for Mark RIcht to continue his mastery of GT

good one! Actually, it was better for Tech because Clemson was about to get 7..or leave leave them inside the five having to throw it..really the ball game was so over by that time that the safety was just delicious icing on the cake.
