Who could forget the time Verne and Gary got down to @SouljaBoy during a @FootballUGA game? #StoryTimeWithUncleVerne https://t.co/afE9FBSlId

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23

Mark Richt would have never won that game… oh, wait.

But but but we can’t win in the black jerseys because of voodoo or something. Also Mark Richt sucks!!

That game didn’t mean anything because we didn’t win a championship!
Black jerseys are fake juice!
Who cares about beating Hawai’i!
That afternoon and night was one of the best I’ve ever spent in Sanford Stadium and a preppy Goth convention.

The Hawaii beat down was sweet. Really, it was. Only BCS type bowl in years. Long live the legend.

When they came out a threw a cheap shot on the first play it was OVER!

Upon further review it was the first play we got the ball on the punt.

I love Uncle Verne. I’m seriously bummed that he’s hanging it up. I know CBS is coming for Tennessee, but the Dawgs need to win more games so we can get him back to town for Auburn again, or even Tech.

The last six games of 2007 might have been the most fun of my time as a Georgia fan. That was just a fun team once they got rolling.

That was a great run! I still wish they could’ve played in the SECCG because I believe they would’ve won and had a shot at the BCS title game. The team peaked at the right time and I remember watching them in the Sugar Bowl absolutely destroy an undefeated Hawaii team that many of the pundits picked in the upset. Colt Brennan still wakes up with cold sweats and nightmares from the beating he took After the game, the Hawaii fans and players didn’t know what hit them, LOL.

There were two times in Richt’s tenure that I felt UGA could have beaten any team in the country. Those were the end of 2007 and the end of 2002.

End of 2002 for sure. 2007 I think they would’ve beaten LSU or OSU, but USC was a badass team too.

Lots of fans got pissed about the team dancing. That was the same year the bench emptied in Jacksonville. That team playing loose was really good. Too bad Verne has run out of gas.

I’ve been to many a game in Sanford, and many loud ones at that. The Blackout was easily the loudest I’ve ever heard the place.
Also: I was expecting a David/David piece.

Agreed – the only time I remember it louder was 2013 LSU shootout. That moment when they came out of the tunnel in black was insane.

I’ve been her for 32 years and that night was the best. Not only did we kick the shit out of Auburn but Juice Williams took the ball and the Illini beat Ohio State in Columbus. . . and it was my 60th birthday!

I think he’s referring to 2013 in Athens. I was there for that one, it was insanely loud, even when leaving the stadium.

10-4. I just remember listening to a game at LSU that was so loud we could hardly hear the announcers.

If ever Georgia commemorates the end zone celebration at jacksonville after Meyer is 6 ft under, he will be turning over and over in his grave.

Was fortunate enough to be at that game and the Hawaii butt kicking. Also believe we could have won it all at the end of year.

What a game that was. I remember his call on that long Moreno run when he said, “Lingerie on the field!” That remains one of my favorite calls of his ever.
That was a game when those two were in the bag for Georgia because the Dawgs were clicking and could do no wrong in that second half.

I remember being up 17-3, then down 20-17 and never feeling like the game was in doubt. Four TDs later, I was right.

Lots of people still celebrate that game. I was in Kansas City a couple of years ago and ran into a fellow wearing one of the blackout t-shirts most students had on for the game. That was a great night.

The first thing that comes to mind when watching that clip: “Wow, was that really nine years ago?!?”
