It’s kind of gotten lost in the shuffle after all the hoopla surrounding the remarkable 2018 signing class, but Baker’s decision to return is a big deal for Georgia’s defense this season. He and Reed give the secondary a couple of anchors to stabilize around early as the coaches figure out how to restructure the back end of the defense.
Just remember that Georgia goes on the road two of the first four games this season to face two pretty good quarterbacks in Bentley and Lock.
Baker was brilliant this past year. Had to have been the most under-the-radar CB in the country. Still kinda surprised he came back, but I’m excited about it.

Young man has grown up before our eyes in the past season and a half. We have a couple of young guys who could take the other CB position and make UGA a force in the secondary, few teams have two shutdown CBs at the collegiate level, or the pros. I feel we are in good hands at safety, Reed may have to fight for his time there; lot of talent on board and coming in.
It is a flip from last year when we knew the front 7 was rock solid and the secondary was the concern. I don’t see us as particularly weak along the front, but that is where our questions will be until we see how those pups at LB and DE grow up over the summer. I don’t see this as a Top 15 defense, especially in the early part of the season, but it is no clunker. The defense will not be such a weakness the offense cannot overcome the time needed to develop. Maybe a defensive ranking in the 20’s, good enough that getting back to Atlanta should be an expectation this season.

Mac, we’re going to have a top 15 defense as long as Kirbs is on the sideline.

sUGAr, Mac’s just Munsoning. I expect to get back to ATL as well, but “UGA will compete for the National Championship again” is 11 months and 14 games away.

Think our secondary will be better this year. Lecounte will be an upgrade over Sanders. Reed more experienced. Baker all sec. The bid question is who plays star and corner between Webb and Mcghee. Better at every position but still thin imo.
At line backer my question is will they put Natrez and Monty on the field at the same time.
We are still loaded.
