Pressurized

Just a reminder…

Of course, with that offensive line, it’s a moot point, amirite?

Seriously, it’s something to think about in response to those who say that Fields has a mobility advantage in avoiding pressure.  Maybe that’s true, but it’s what happens when the quarterback gets rid of the ball that matters.  (Or tucks and runs, which is where I’d expect Fields to have a real advantage early on.)

Just a WAG here, but thinks it has more to do with him keeping his head in the game than mobility.

Also, receivers breaking off routes and coming back for the ball or in Lock’s case, going long.

These stats on Fromm just keep popping up. As much recognition as he got last year for the job he did, he still doesn’t get nearly enough respect for what he was able to accomplish as a freshman. A terrific season by any measure that should not be diminished by the talent the team had in the running game.

Excellent comment. It may be difficult to equal the performance he gave in 2017, even with the expected improvement in the OL. His command over where people would be downfield when a play broke down was just astounding given his lack of time in the offense as a true freshman. Remember the coaches’ comments at the Army AA game about how quickly he picked up the offense in less than one week, proved very prophetic.

Not bad for a guy who just throws crossing routes.

What people miss is that it’s a Kirby Smart team. That position eval starts with a QB’s floor, not his ceiling. And all these stats prove that Fromm’s floor is really damn high. Which means it doesn’t matter what Fields’ ceiling is. Not until his floor is roughly where Fromm’s is. And that’s not happening this year.

Excellent point! I think this is a spot on assessment. In fact, I would be surprised if we deployed a lot of the special packages people are talking about. Fields is definitely going to get lots of mop up duty this year, so he will be on the field. I just hope they let him do his thing, and not just hand off like they did with Eason last year.

    actually, it’s a moo point.

Cuz our OL is like a herd of big ole cattle, moving everything in their way.

So Stidham not in this list means he tucked and ran most of those moments meaning Fromm can do the same. Or, good point by Senator, Fields would be a similar great weapon to pickup some key 3rd downs during any tight 4th Quarter battles at USCe, Mizzou, LSU and Jax.

Look for Locke to tumble in the QB ratings under SOD this coming season. The UGA OL is going to be even better so Fromm is likely to move to No.1, at least I hope so ’cause that would mean the Dawgs would be killing it.
