Dan Mullen has lost control of Your Daily Gator.

So, it turns out ESPN’s latest FPI projections have Florida losing two 2020 regular season games, to LSU (45.6% UF win) and, of course, Georgia (37.3% UF win).  That, in turn, has led to some delightful commentary at Swamp247 about the fate of The Portal Master™ if he keeps losing to Smart.

What’s so delicious about this isn’t that these guys have turned into what we once were.  It’s that they don’t even realize it.

Thank you for this. I prefer to focus on the Dawgs but in these “strange” “times” that thread was a nice way to start the Remote Work week.

2021 figures to be a horrific year for LSU given the losses in talent, coaching, and practice. How are they favored at UF?

    • “Horrific”? They’ve still got plenty of talent. How bad do you think LSU will be?

Horrific is admittedly a strong word, but let’s just say much worse than a NC year. Multiple losses likely. I just think it’s fascinating they would be favored against perennial coach of the year Dan Mullen and Heisman front runner Kyle Trask (at Florida).

    • Talent isn’t a problem on the Bayou. The question may be what Coach Oeaux is going to do now that Aranda is in Waco and Brady is in Charlotte. That’s where the troubles may come from.

Yeah. They caught lightning in a bottle last year. I see at least two losses.

        • I don’t think they caught lightning in a bottle. Oeaux got the hell out of the way last year and let his coordinators work. Burrow flourished in Brady’s passing system. They always have had incredible talent on the outside. The defense struggled some at the beginning of the year but got better as the season wore on. Stingley is a future top 10 pick and may be ready for the League right now.

We all know Gator fans are intellectually challenged and here is a prime example:

“Seems to me that Mullen has proven he’s a better coach than the guy who was getting his hair cut with a bowl over his head long before Coronavirus. This year, the talent gap will be slimmer. So would expect the superior coaching to make it pretty much a toss up.”

Logic would suggest that if Mullen was so superior from a coaching perspective that he’d have no trouble beating Kirby Smart led teams. Mullen has never defeated Kirby Smart in a head-to-head battle as HC. I think we can safely throw this common misconception into the trash where it belongs!

The head coach with the bowl cut has won the division 75% of the seasons he has coached. The superior coach has won his division 0% of the seasons he coached.

I honestly think Mullen is a good coach; however, he is definitely NOT a better coach than Kirby. And this is what drives us Dawg fans crazy. People will put them on the same level or think Mullen is better and that is ridiculous. Winning solves all problems! GO DAWGS!!

What makes you think he is a good coach? I don’t see it.

Let’s see….he took an MSU program that was terrible and won a few games and actually made it to some bowl games. He took a Gator program that had sank to below 6 wins and brought them back to respectability. They’ve won 10+ games the past two years. You cannot deny that he is a good coach. My point was… He is NOT better than Kirby and people continue to compare them. There is no comparison.

He isn’t McElwain bad but I fail to see where he is always considered a “good/great” coach.

The two 10 win seasons he has had at FU were comically easy schedules. They lose to the only good teams they play and play close games with average teams (UK, UT).

    • The line about the hair cut is funny.

Anyone who thinks the talent gap is slimmer is just a delusional fool.

Talent gap getting slimmer? Remind me again where Flar-duh’s incoming recruiting class was ranked? And where was Georgia’s?

The talent gap is getting larger, not slimmer.

Gator fans sound like a politician saying they cut the budget when in fact all they did was reduce the rate of growth. Mullen has NOT closed the gap, he has only slowed down the rate that the gap is widening, but widening it still is.

I really dislike Georgia Tech but watch the 2015 Orange Bowl when they play Mississippi State and see just how better Paul Johnson is as a coach than Mullen. That Tech team beat UGA on the 50+ yard field goal after another directional kick fiasco and was a “decent” team. The way they gashed the best Mississippi State team of his tenure that was at one point ranked Number 1 is fun to watch even though it involves Tech and “Fishfry”. Mullen is historically the 3rd or 4th best coach Florida has ever had but it is a hell of a gap from Spurrier and Meyer that he will soon run out of excuses and be replaced within 2-3 years having never beaten Georgia.

Thank God there wasn’t any social media around when Goff was coach. Our posts probably would have looked a lot like that site.

Yo pimpleface, college football didn’t begin in 1990. Where were you in ’82 when the Junkyard Dawgs stomped a mudhole in that ditch lizard ass 44-0? Or ’85 when the #1 mitey gators got their three valve hearts ripped out by the GEORGIA Bulldogs. Just an egg in a pile of festering, rotten swamp weed, right boy?
But you were around in ’17 to see that epic beatdown. Simply because you quit watching in the third quarter doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. If you would’ve hung around until the end you could watch the Hogtown heroes score on the Dawgs third string. Yeah I git it. Last year is as good as it’s gonna get for you.
Get used to your status as an also-ran with the occasional W over the Team that owns your sorry ass.

You know through all this social distancing, isolation of bat shit craziness I have tried to find a way to indulge in more practical thinking. Although that’s debatable.
One thing and I mean no sarcasm for this virus has nutted us all. One view that would interest me is the cases of flu/ mortality vs. Covid-19. I would be interested but there is not a specific kept number of cases of flu numbers that ai have heard of from either side of the aisle.
The other thing of much less concern is why I would listen to anything Concerning your Daily Gator247 #FTMF as stated by the man with the bowl haircut.
No offense Senator, just saying tank tops and jorts aren’t worth it.

Mullen is 44-44 against the SEC
Record vs. Top 10 opponents: 7-17

Record vs. Top 25 opponents: 12-35

    And a mediocre recruiter.
