Think of all the money they’ll save on buyouts.

Shot.

Pruitt’s exit comes on the heels of Tennessee launching an in-house investigation dating back to November into alleged recruiting improprieties that sources told ESPN centered in part on extra benefits provided to football recruits on unofficial visits. Pruitt, with his attorneys present, met with investigators for several hours Thursday. That meeting was monitored by NCAA officials via Zoom. At least one other assistant, inside linebackers coach Brian Niedermeyer, had a lengthy meeting with investigators Wednesday, also with his attorneys present and NCAA officials monitoring virtually.

Sources told ESPN the investigation uncovered multiple alleged Level I violations.

Chaser.

Go away and leave the damned bottle on the bar.

With the way the college president was talking, you’ve got to wonder just what this dumb fucker did.

He didn’t win enough games and Fat Phil stupidly gave him a giant buyout, so Fat Phil went on a witch hunt for violations he knew that were there but in doing so brought embarrassment to the entire university, so now this poor woman had to cancel her usual after-hours drinks with intellectuals to talk to CFB media about why her idiot AD, who she has to pretend to kiss his ass to keep big money boosters happy, allowed all this to go on while blaming the dumb redneck coach for everything.

That’s about as succinct as I can make it.

Tough call for the lawyers and their clients:

    1) you can refuse to answer their questions and they fire you for cause, so no money.

    2) you can answer their questions and your truthful answers may well get you fired for cause, so again no money.

    3) you can try and bullshit them to where they think its better to pay you than to be in a lawsuit with you. But if they have evidence that proves you’re totally fos (or you contradict each other) they’ll fire you for cause, have you on tape lying and then dare you to sue.

The coaches went with, “fuck it, we’re screwed anyway, so lets try bullshit and see what happens.”

Fulmer asked for the state of the program from when he got here until now responds that recruiting is good seems kind of tone deaf.

Never underestimate Tennessee’s ability to make the last crisis look like the good ole days. Every couple of years rocky bottom finds a new layer of bedrock beneath it.

What really cornfused me was they started an in-house investigation, when in reality the whole thing is pure out-house related…leaving dough nut hole phil in charge of the whole athletic dept. past the initial six months showed their board just loved to sit around, rolling their turds into little balls and happy with having a non participant making decisions on the future of the programs in general…that whole area is a giant hole in the ground and bunch of peeps are gonna fill it up as fast as they can with some really ugly, smelly shit….it’s beyond funny, cause the top is where the dismantling should start, not at the bottom….

So let me get this right, the Tennessee football program had “a ridiculous number of level one and level two violations” over the past three years with Jeremy Pruitt as their head coach and yet they only posted a 16-19 record during that time. Maybe he should’ve been terminated for incompetence instead of being given a large contract extension last year….although incompetence means paying a buyout!

Paul Finebaum was just called out for his criticism of Murray’s comment on Pruitt’s personality issues and general unfitness to be an HC. Finebaum was humble and magnanimous in response. “Murray was right.”

No. There needs to be much more groveling for Murray’s forgiveness than that. What Finebaum said about Murray when he went after Aaron for having the temerity to speak the truth about a coach who got into fistfights with other coaches on his staff and tried to enact a mutiny against his boss went WAY over the line.

Finebaum needs to get Murray on his show and apologize like a fucking man.

      • I agree … he should have Murray on and apologize for the things he said. Interesting that Murray has been a bigger man on social media today. Drew Butler has gone after F-bum.

Agreed. Finebaum’s response was brief and succinct. My initial assessment was from ignorance of his tirade. His response was in actuality uncomfortable for his candied ass.

I’ll second RR. I’m not familiar with the round but there aren’t many of them around, A NIB would bring a pretty penny. If it’s been fired I suspect there are a lot of shooters out there that would like to get their hands on one.

Some real perverse incentives in play with buyouts. School wants to lock down a winner, so they sign up for a huge buyout. Coach (and school) wants to win, so he pushes the recruiting envelope. Except, now he’s gotta preserve that buyout, so maybe he doesn’t push that envelope as hard? Damned if you do/don’t.

So now Jimmy just makes the “for cause” exclusion way harder to execute. Like, actual felony indictment harder.

      Felony conviction harder maybe?

I doubt someone is giving up a multi-million dollar contract because the school won’t agree to near impunity.

I’m sure Sexton would love a “you’re paying the balance no matter what” clause but not sure its very practical. If nothing else, the creativity and depth of depravity coaches have shown in the area of fucking up would make it impractical.

In short, if someone younger and less established than Joe Pa got his nuts into that or a similar sling, would you want to be the guy who said we still have to write the buyout ck?

“What a sh*tshow. That many violations and the guy could only manage a 3-7 record.

    Just an outright terrible coach.
