“You hired a weak man with no backbone who is gonna get run over by all these boosters.”

I think it’s safe to say that Tony Franklin is no fan of the Bryan Harsin hiring.  Or of Bryan Harsin, for that matter.

“Four games in and you crack, and you fire your receivers coach?” he asked. “The best coached group on the field for offense was your receivers. You’re basically firing your receivers coach because your offensive line sucks. Your offensive line is bad.”

He was just getting started.

“You showed the powers that be they run the show,” Franklin said of Harsin. “They make the calls.

“If you want to blame somebody for sucking right now, the way your football team sucks, I got a great idea. Instead of firing Cornelius, or whoever the next guy is you’re going to fire, just quit. Just resign.”

Franklin continued to hammer away at the Tigers, who he said are nothing more than a reflection of their coach.

“The characteristics of this football team are the same as the coach: soft, soft, soft,” he said.

“They aren’t a physical team. I’ve seen physical Auburn football many times in my life as a fan, as a coach.”

Axes to grind at Auburn?  Looks like I’m gonna need a bigger bag of popcorn.

    Auburn sucks.

Didn’t auburn have a chance to tie the game late in the fourth quarter? That’s some pretty strong rhetoric about a team that had a great shot to beat you in your own back yard

If Auburn ever gets the right coach they’ll still suck.

He does have a point that Will Friend is a TERRIBLE o-line coach.

He was shit here, he was hilariously shit at Tennessee, and now he’s shit at Auburn.

FFS, I know he’s Bobo’s friend and all, but you’d think Bobo wouldn’t be this stupid to keep hiring a guy who is awful at his job.

    He’s Bobo’s Soft Willie Martinez.

He slams Friend as well and to some extent Bobo. Granted he has ties with the now departed Williams, but CTF aint happy bout this AU team , LOL. Couldn’t happen to a better bunch.

  12. I saw Harsin’s interview on Marty and McGee and he struck me as an unlikable prick pretending his best to show otherwise. He’s in over his head.

Yeah, this saga is just getting started. I think Auburn and Vandy should switch coaches and both would be better off.

You never know what’s going on behind the scenes on a coaching staff and Tony Franklin obviously has some axes to grind there and also has a personal relationship with the fired coach, but I’ve got to agree with him that it’s pretty weak sauce to fire your receivers coach four games into the season. That’s garbage. It’s also very Auburn.

    • I thought it was interesting that a former Auburn coach evoked calling out the boosters…clearly he knows first hand how the War Tiger sausage is made, and he slings it out in the universe (I thought mentioning boosters out loud was verboten)…Opelika is about to become a serious shitshow after Cheater University (barners) get kicked in the dick by several SEC opponents in the next 4-5 weeks…pass the popcorn

I thought this as well. With just a little luck, we can have a years long dumpster fire at Auburn that will rival Tenn’s finest.

My wife went to Auburn, (I know, I know…all I can plead is temporary insanity). I sent her the article and this is her response: “Ouch! However, unfortunately it’s the truth. If Harsin doesn’t get it fixed, our boosters will fire him. What a nightmare!”

Never understood this panic hire. They fired Gus without a plan, and hired this fish out of water. He can hire all the local retread coaches he wants, but he won’t last 2 years. NONE of his assistants are worth a crap to boot.
