Envy and jealousy: something was rotten in Vegas department

Sure, it sounds like something straight out of a cheap detective novel, but in terms of describing how awful Oregon State looked last night, it’s hard to beat this (h/t The Wiz of Odds).

For Oregon State, the stench of a surprising no-show in the windy, freezing-cold MAACO Bowl Tuesday night will linger like a pile of garbage that hasn’t been picked up for weeks.

Pretty much sums it up for me…

So much for the superiority of the PAC-10.
Yeah, I’m pissed because I picked ’em. These west coast weenies have let me down twice in four games (Fresno as well).

After the 1st quarter, the Beavers looked like a team that had had enough; they played like a club ready to get on the bus and leave.

This game just illustrates that motivating a team to play hard in one of the mid/lower tier exhibition bowl games is no easy task.

The Pac-10 has a curious history of recently laying eggs in the Las Vegas Bowl, and only the Las Vegas Bowl. They usually perform well in all the other bowl match-ups.

Can’t argue that, but look at the matchups they get in their bowls. Pretty easy to look good against the teams they seem to draw. That said, bowls have become pathetic. If it weren’t for us needing the extra practice days, and the junkie in me needing an endless supply of CFB, I wish they would abandon the bowls. Ceremonial, exhibition games at best. I just don’t draw firm conclusions from the games as they are.
