A handy guide into the mind of Steve Addazio

The Orlando Sentinel has thoughtfully provided an overview of the Gators’ offensive playcalling on the season here (h/t Team Speed Kills).  There’s even a database, if you want to look at that, too.

I’m sure Grantham’s already got the data, but it’s nice for us to be able to read along with him.

So if the trends hold, they will be in 3rd and long a lot, and they will usually convert those against Georgia.

Exactly what stuck out in my mind as well. I was more confident in our chances until I read this. Of course, I’ve never been in the arena.

Honestly, I think Georgia is the better overall team. The only two positions I think Florida has an advantage are running back (if Demps is 100%) and at safety (even though one of theirs is kind of crappy). However, I expect Georgia to manage to lose the game somehow. Probably because the offense doesn’t produce enough points. If it were any other team I’d expect Georgia to win by 10 or so.

My God!…It’s like they’ve just been waiting for us!! Run up the gut on 1st (we’ll hold). Dump pass on 2nd (we’ll contain). Throw long on 3rd or QB run and we’re screwed!!!!

With the off week adjustment of adding some long down the middle passes on first, we are gonna get pummeled.

        Curses to you Urban…curses!!!!

Since we’re just taking this as a given, I think it’s worth noting that Florida’s receiving corps isn’t anything special.

Also, that KENTUCKY’S GONNA WHEEL ROUTE US TO DEATH didn’t exactly happen.

Okay, I feel a little better now. However, we did give up 31 to KY. I think KY’s offense is better than UF’s though. I know UF’s defense is better than KY’s.

          I say we win 24-21.

OK, so if Carl Moore beats us repeatedly with a sideline or crossing pattern on third down, I’m going to be pretty ticked.

Florida has attempted nine field goals, missing from 44, 39, 25, 38 and 42 yards.

While I do expect UF’s most complete game yet, I still think the Dawgs take care of business. We’re as healthy as we’ve been all season, the OL is finally playing like we hoped, and we have two RBs that can gain tough yards and the best receiver in the conference. The D appears to be adapting to the new scheme, we are getting some push from the DL, Houston is a man-child, LB play is solid, and the secondary…..well, I still think the Dawgs take care of business Saturday.

And the best freshman QB in the nation. I, too, think the Dawgs win in Jax on Saturday. I hope we are both right.

I totally agree with every reason that the Dawgs should take care of business. I guess I’ve just grown into a cynic when it comes to this game. I used to love it. I now dread it. Until the Dawgs can win when they should on a consistent basis (which, quite honestly, is more than 3 times in 20 years), I just can’t believe in it. For crying out loud, I’ve been espousing for the last few weeks to everyone in my office that will listen that Georgia CAN play with Auburn. I know…that’s crazy talk perhaps, but with Florida I’ve invested so much time and energy that it’s just tough to believe that there isn’t some sort of hex or something.

This is cliche, but if we win the turnover battle, we will win this game.

I really think that’s what it boils down to.

The O has to put points on the board – a minimum of 30. The O line can’t take another Saturday off. Turn Murray loose on the roll-out run/pass option.

The D has to man up and make some stops on 3rd down. Somebody needs to help with the pass rush – can’t leave it all on Justin Houston’s shoulders.

No stupid penalties. No drops. No fumbles. Don’t stand around on punts. And no head scratching play calls.

WCobb, you just brought back a decade of pain. There’s a precedent for these things…

    No stupid penalties.

    George Foster headslammin’ fools.

    No fumbles.

Stafford and Lumpkin in the backfield fumbling the ball to each other.

    Don’t stand around on punts.

I’ll settle for not standing around on UF’s first offensive possession and watching them run beautifully executed end-arounds, wide-receiver screens, shotgun draws for 15 yards.

    No drops.

    Terrance, oh Terrance.

And no head scratching play calls.

4th and long play action pass with Joe T.

I’d add no black helmets and no black pants and no pick 6’s before the half, but should we have to remember?

If we can break 20 on them, I’ll feel better. Every loss to them under Richt, we’ve been held under 20 points.
