The offseason has officially commenced, and with no coaching staff changes in Athens to chew over, it’s gonna be a long one.
I think I’m starting to miss Lane Kiffin.

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
Dr. Saturday similarly declared it the official beginning of the off-season.
What is it exactly that makes it official? The deadline for people to declare for the NFL? What defines that day exactly?

I can’t speak for the Doc or anybody else, but for me, the start is marked by college football commentary becoming dominated by two topics which frankly bore the hell out of me: (1) upcoming NFL draft status speculation; and (2) recruiting speculation.

Don’t forget entirely too early preseason predictions and rankings as well.

Muckbeast, well lets hope that date is not the time of our first arrest, suspension or anything else stupid.

That is what I wanted to know, when does the Fulmer Cup count reset?

I believe Orson tweeted that the Fulmer Cup was open as soon as the clock hit 0:00 in Glendale.

Can we get Fulmer Cup points for Marcus Dowtin’s assault charge?
We never got credit for it last year, so it should carry forward and get us out to our customary early lead.

Should we be happy that there’s at least one national title for which we can battle to repeat?

It should be an interesting off season for those among us who are enamored with a playoff for college football.
They can spend three or four months blabbering about a playoff and nothing will happen, again.

May not play on Saturday, but this is the time of the year you make those teams. I have a feeling there is alot of hard work, long hours, and intense self-evaluationss going on with coaches and players. I think they have done serious evaluations of everything they have been doing, especially recruiting. After seeing some clips on the nurtritionist hire from UF, I’m impressed that things are changing in Athens. A new S&C coach and staff, less talk, a new solid AD. I’ve bitched about this program for 3 years, but for some reason I have a good gut feeling where this program is going and how the 2011 team will look. I think they will be meaner than a junkyard dog that can’t get to a bitch dog in heat. One change I would like to see, I want like to see a little twicking of the home and road uniforms.
But Senator, please keep us to date on every little breath they take.

There should at least be some jokes to come out of UGA hiring a nutritionist and UF hiring Weiss…

Nah, it’s over after the NFL draft. That’s when the suck really begins in earnest.

A bit of good UGA sporting news perhaps, the UGA men’s tennis team swept both singles and doubles in the SEC indoor tournament today in Knoxville. Our line 2 guy beat a top 10 player from KY. Our new doubles tandem took down the #4 ranked duo in the nation from TN.
The men’s team will be back this year in a strong way.

I love Isaiah Crowell and sure hope he comes to Athens. With that said, it bothers me she kids wait until SD to make a decision. If he goes to Bama, we’ll be standing there with a scholly we could give to another kid, a kid who may panic and go elsewhere instead if waiting us out.

The basketball team looks like they’ll make the tournament, if anyone cares.

You heard of me? I’m the guy who promised you that, in exchange for the UGA HC job, I would never leave to take the HC job at Kentucky. Then I left as soon as the UK job opened up screwing up the UGA BB program for years.

Actually, that never happened. Dooley made no strong offer to keep Smith at UGA, and he had to take it. Then he made the possibly the laziest hire in the history of coaching hires.

Thanks for posting that.
Dooley was the one to blame there, not the Tubbster.

I agree.
Right now, I would say they’ve got better than a 50% shot at making the SEC Tournament.

I have had a nagging chest cold for three weeks, it’s been colder than a well diggers ass or an undertaker’s handshake, I can’t watch my fishing shows because of TENNIS, and I am too old to take up ice fishing, since somebody moved Southwest Ga to freakin’ Alaska. The Falcons blew up like a cheap baloon in the playoffs and no college football. Maybe Costa Rica needs to be introduced to real football. Think I’ll go there and start a team, besides, the fishing is good there, and it’s not freezing!

Senator, for some reason there is something that tells me you will be ok. We have Patton Dooley in Knoxville, you have the grass eater Miles at LSU, the “I love the Gators”Muschamp in Gainesville, Gamecocks Spurrier’s ongoing love affair with Garcia, and who better than our beloved Bulldogs where we lead the SEC in drama.
