Demographics, baby:
What do individuals with post-graduate degrees, Republicans and Southerners have in common?
According to a survey by Harris Interactive Inc., those are the three top demographics for college football fans.
…
College football was least popular with Easterners, Hispanics and those without a college degree.
Two out of three for me too. I lean a little more libertarian

Seems about right.
I recall growing up in Atlanta that the only time I’d see a Falcons decals it would be on the back of a work truck or on the ballcap of a shirtless carpenter/roofer. Nothing wrong with that. It is what it is.
Not to say a lot of other people don’t “pull” for the Falcons. But the Falcons have never penetrated the considerable # of suburban CFB fanatics.

Touchdown Jesus disagrees with parts of the Harris survey. For example, He did not know that He did not like college football but Republicans did.
He is going to do something to fix that problemo. That fix may involve yet another expansion of the Mountain West Conference. Or He may just make each Republican participate in His Coin Toss game because that would be more fun for Him and half the Republicans.

Well, I wouldn’t say I’m a republican as much as I’m a conservative, but yeah, otherwise describes me to a tee!

Not a Republican, but conservative. Attending CFB games is the most time I spend in the proximity of Democrats all year. Fortunately, there is no mention of political issues during that time frame as every one takes a break from that reality, regardless of how, or why, we may think it is happening. Sadly, CFB is becoming a controversy unto itself.

I’m clearly in the minority. Very liberal African American from the northeast with B.A. from Emory and J.D. from UGA who wants Obama around in 2012, but not Richt….Go Dawgs

Don’t feel alone there, Sam. Although I’m a two out of three guy myself – Southern by birth with a BA and MS (and about to embark on a Ph.D) – but I’m probably even more liberal than Doug (not that there’s anything wrong with that). That said, I hope Richt makes a come back and is successful for a long, long time.

Senator,
I love this blog but hate the occasional subtle political comments. Not that I necessarily disagree with you but I am a big fan of the separation of politics and football. Not that I am going to stop reading anytime soon.

Where was the political comment? He referenced an article that gave an interesting tidbit on the demographics of college football fans.

There does seem to be a goodly number of JD’s in here (not that there is anything wrong with that). Where are the fans from the other side of campus? Anybody from that part of campus around Grad Studies?
