US Airways, you got some ‘splaining to do.

Six days before Deshon Marman was arrested for showing a little too much of his boxer shorts, this gentleman was allowed to fly the friendly skies without incident.

"So if they're not exposing their private parts, they're allowed to fly."

Reportedly, he’s a frequent flyer.  If there’s a trial, I hope somebody calls him as a witness.

Saw this guy in the Phoenix airport just two weeks ago as I was flying out to Hawaii. He was wearing even less at that time.

I’ve been treated like ass on nearly every US Airways flight I’ve taken in the last 10 years, but now I’m starting to think maybe it was because I just didn’t dress pretty enough.

If she didn’t think this would double his fun, Michele would tear this guy a new asshole if she saw him at Dulles and her seat was next to his

They removed two guys in line with himmer because they were taking photos of themselves below the waist line.

Social and sexual correctness pronouns for this person would run the gamut:

Sorta puts a new meaning to the “Come. Fly with me.” slogan.

If there is a sucker involved this would be a SoCar fan. or mascot.

We assume that this is a dress-code test, right? Otherwise, it’s just a tranny hopping a flight.

Deshon was not arrested for showing his boxer shorts. He was arrested for trespassing, battery and resisting arrest.

It’s their plane. Follow their instructions or don’t ride. He refused to do either and wound up in jail.

I get the fact that it appears US Air has a double standard for their passenger dress code. It doesn’t excuse the fact that Deshon acted like an idiot which is why he was ultimately arrested.

        The pictures are funny.

I disagree with your statement in this post that he was arrested for showing his boxers, but you ignore that. Getting arrested can start from anything. Last week I was on a plane and the stewardess asked me to put my iPad in the overhead bin instead of the seat back until after take off. That is just plain stupid from my perspective, but guess what? I did it.

Now I could have raised hell and been arrested and you could point out how people that put books and magazines in seat backs are not discriminated against like me and my iPad. Nevertheless, that bias against the iPad did not cause my arrest. My refusal to follow instructions from the flight crew would have been the reason for my arrest.

            • Just because you choose to go off on a tangent from my original point doesn’t mean I have to follow you.

Kudos for being on your best behavior, but that’s irrelevant. Regardless of what the kid wound up being charged with, he wouldn’t have run afoul of the law in the first place had the airline ignored him as they did Mr. I Dress In Leather and Hose. That’s the only point I was making.

Sorry, but they don’t get to pick and choose who they decide is dressed correctly. Either they have a specific dress code that they enforce or they don’t. According to US Air (the worst airline in the history of air travel), as long as your privates aren’t showing, you’re good to go. And yeah, it may be their plane, but they fly it in airspace regulated by the FAA. The federal government has some laws that specifically address this type of thing (“type of thing” aka discrimination).

So, JBJ, suppose that same air waitress told you to get off the plane because she didn’t like the color of your tie. Are you just going to hop off and say “Oh, well. It’s their plane?” Doubt it. You’d probably argue, maybe refuse to get off, and ultimately end up escorted off the plane. But, I doubt you’d get arrested and taken to jail in cuffs like he was.

The US Air employee who started this needs to be fired and the airline needs to issue an apology to Deshon and his family. I’m not a big fan of the look myself (except for the time I saw a kid running through an airport who tripped on his low-hanging pants and fell flat on his face… now that was funny), but I’m not the one who told the kid to get off the plane.

Sorry, but this was discrimination. And it was wrong. And it needs to be punished.

I think you’re wrong about one thing KC. If JBJ were told to get off the plain because one of the airline employees didn’t like the color of his tie and he refused to get off he WOULD get arrested and taken away in handcuffs—by TSA. That is the ridiculous level to which everything at the airport has sunk in the name of “national security.” I really cannot fault anyone who drives now instead of flying.

I would get arrested as the Mayor points out. It is ridiculous and I don’t agree with it, but it is the state of things.

Didn’t complaints by at least two passengers prior to boarding kick this thing off (a pun is the lowest form of humor)? His comeuppance (sorry again) came when he ignored the airline employees before and after he boarded. Once the row started with his cracks (damn!) aimed at the pilot, it was all over except for the shouting (and the waving of arms, etc.). When you are in that situation it’s like driving off a cliff–too late. Since forever most black people have been taught not to get caught seemingly challenging white authorities. Once you are in the system you are taught to avoid the hell out of them. Nobody told him. Now he has given them the perfect excuse to dig up old warrants or anything else placed into the system that can be used against him.

Where is Michelle Bachman and the Tea Party protectors of his usurped rights? Oops! Forgot. They’re all white. This should be a lesson to the Tea Party advocates for challenging authorities who have taken away their rights. You will get arrested….oops! Forgot again that they are white.

Next time kid, take an American flag with you and wave it smartly when you are ordered about by the Fashion Police! Seems to work for some people.

It’s not just the kid. Everyone involved should have taken a time out during this fracas. Authority shouldn’t be used so intransigently except for discipline purposes in the military. We get it that the pilot/captain is the final authority on any vessel, but it shouldn’t have reached him. If the kid forced himself onto the flight that would be another matter. If the problem was so insurmountable (as it became), he should have been stopped prior to and at boarding. Onboard and seated should have been the end of it.
