Sunday morning buffet

Can I interest you in something?

  • Trinton Sturdivant moves on.
  • Joe Moglia’s offseason after essentially buying the head coaching job at Coastal Carolina has gone about as you would expect:  After being hired by Coastal Carolina on Dec. 20, Moglia didn’t try to make up for lost time on the recruiting trails, realizing the Chanticleers would lose some high school seniors due to the coaching change. His new program wound up having the smallest signing class in the conference…”
  • This year’s early leader in SEC hot seat talk is
  • John Thompson is a vampire.  He keeps rising from the dead to be named somebody’s defensive coordinator.
  • Nice story about Bear Bryant and Alabama’s first black scholarship athlete – who wasn’t a football player.
  • Somewhere in this great land of ours, spring football has started.
  • For all the excitement about Zach Mettenberger, it’s worth remembering that his eleven pass attempts last year represents the sum total of experience for all of LSU’s quarterbacks going into this season.
  • It sounds like there won’t be a College Football Hall of Fame for a while.  (Where do they store everything?)

Wouldn’t it be awesome/a tragedy if some of the hall’s stuff ended up on storage wars? Yuuuuuup.

I am a Milesnfan, but sometimes Les is just mystifying. How could squeeze only 11 throws for in for the QB who will have to lead your program the next year? And this from a 13-0 team who sat in the Top 3 all year long. That just makes no sense. (And I admit I have been a supporter of giving our back-up more playing time during the CMR era as well.)

Yeah, but Mett already had the JC experience of a championship and is used to SEC speed (for two of his three years), don’t you think? He has been practicing with the Scout Team against the #1 D last year (except the end) . If that ain’t enough, I sure don’t want to wish him more.

Best wishes to Sturdivant, the best OT we’ve had in years – even if it was just one season. Certainly hope life breaks your way.

  4. SouthGa Dawg

Coastal Carolina will be interesting. The weird part of the story is that it didn’t really mention or quote and players or asst. coaches. Are there any? But hey, I’m all for it if the guy succeeds. He’ll probably do better that SOD…

Unfortunate to hear things with the Hall have been pushed back yet again. Another sign the economy still has a long way to go.

    • Cojones

Better take another look at that economy, Jim. I think you are missing the big upswing. Except , of course, if you are a Mitt fan in Detroit.

      • Ray

There is an obvious difference between Wall street and Main street, please tell me you at least understand that….

        • Cojones

Don’t look now, Ray, but we are about to top 13k and stay there through the election. Wouldn’t it be a hoot if the rigged oil prices going up to be used as ammo to shoot down Obama ended up keeping the market high to ensure his election? So many choices, so little time.

      • Ray

Except, of course, you are an Obama fan from Chicago

    Good luck, Trinton.

It’s really time for some UGA alum in the finance sector to step up and give Triton a chance.DGD.

  8. Cojones

While those are my sentiments as well, 69Dawg, I think with his education and attitude, he may be giving some company (sports agency?) a chance. If I were in personnel, I’d be on him like a chicken on a June Bug. A positive attitude, not daunted by such horrific injuries to body and spirit, is worth top dollar in a world where you have to stand up after failure and keep pushing until you persevere. His logical attitude (wanting to be walking in his 40s) doesn’t hurt either. I’m envious of his chances, especially in a down market. We will hear much more from this DGD in the future.

The author seemed to have missed the induction of A&M and Mizzou as full-fledged members of the SEC already. We won’t go over the African American Sports administrators to the SEC due to a poor representative that lives close in our history.

  10. Just Chuck

Wouldn’t you think some of those big, important Tech grads with those high paying jobs they’re always talking about would step in and bail out the football hall?

And on a serious note, Trinton, we wish you a great life. You deserve it.

  11. The other Doug

Any company or consulting firm in ATL that is looking for a finance guy need to take a look at Trinton. The guy is smart, articulate, and obviously tough as nails.

It would be nice to see Dooley win a big one this year…against Bama.
I’ll be all confused as to who I want to win TN/Vandy.
    Tn/Ky ….I’d like a repeat of 2011.
Tn/SC…depends on who’s the biggest threat to Dawgs.
    Tn/Fl….same as above.
