Can I just say, 2012 season, I lurve you?

I mean, skip the obvious for a minute.  How can you not love a season that has Gator fans hanging their hats on Junior and watching him inevitably come up short?  (Should I even bother to mention that a four-team playoff would have made the agony moot?  Consider it mentioned.)

The only thing that could have made it better would have been for Corch to have something to do with it.  Maybe next year.

Per ESPN, ND vs. Bama on January 7. I don’t know why you are so damned happy 😈

Who is this “Georgia” you speak of? The only teams that exist in college football are obviously Notre Dame, Alabama and Florida.

I am surprised the WWL hasn’t figured out a way to get the rules rewritten so Florida plays Bama for the SEC.

The mofo is…if we loose..IF…the swamp mullets get a better bowl. And thems ain’t fair. And I think, this yr, maybe a four team playoff stops that from happening. Just sayin..not a playoff lover or hater- just sayin..

Then I guess that we just have to win and force some people into making a hard choice–like picking a 1 loss Florida for the Sugar Bowl over a 2 loss Bama or vice-versa.

Florida is just about a lock for the Sugar at this point.

If they finish in the final top 4, the BCS HAS to take them. Hopefully the pollsters come to their senses and remember that whole “needing a blocked kick to avoid OT at home against a directional Louisiana school” thing. And that they played aTm in their first game, and no way they win if they played again now.

I would think you would remember that we needed every bit of 60 minutes to beat Kentucky, who is worse than La.-Laf, and we didn’t exactly kill UF despite their 6 turnovers either.

Let’s just focus on Alabama, everyone.

Ah yes. Florida’s six unforced turnovers in which Georgia had no part. And the Kentucky team that took Georgia to the wire despite an inspired and hungry effort from the Bulldogs who weren’t looking ahead to Florida and didn’t need to be called out in the media by one of the team leaders for a lack of effort.

Lighten up all you Francis’ up there. Yeah, if we lose to Bama, Florida might get a better bowl, bfd. WE get to go to the SECCG and WE get a shot at a national title, and they got no shot at either one of those. And they know it.

And who’d a thunk that a few weeks ago leaving the stadium in Columbia? What do they say? OUR TEAM, OUR TIME, NO REGRETS!

^^^This. The bowl pecking order isn’t that significant, winning the title is. And you can’t win if you don’t get in the game. A season where you get to Atlanta is always special, winning in Atlanta is really cool. Glad we got out of today without any major injuries, sorry about Bell for Alabama. Nice to play them in Atlanta after 3 straight times with LSU.

Agree with everything except the bowl pecking order observation. Last year, the BCS bowls paid out $22,300,000 to each team, while we earned $3,500,000 for the trip to the Outback.

All bowl monies go into a big hat to get split up amongst SEC right?

Very little…not sure at all why folks are worrying about Florida. UGA beat them and they know it.

The very little that teams get is eaten by additional expenses. Auburn lost money on their trip to the BCS title game two years ago. But with everyone sharing, the money part means zilch. Sure I would love to go to the Sugar if we lose, but the SEC runnerup has not gone there unless they were unbeaten going into the SEC CG.

I would not trade places with the Gators regardless of what happens Saturday.

I think we got 2/14ths before expansion, rather than 1/14th. Money to UGA is insignificant, only the “prestige” or the attractiveness of the venue for the fans that go. This is another area where the negative attitude of fans can hurt us. Bowl reps want teams with fans that are excited, not firing on the players and coaches for a late season loss. I feel it has hurt UGA in the past when SC and Auburn were taken ahead of the Dawgs. I get it that a school who hasn’t been to a bowl in a while is given a shot because that emotion is hard to beat by a school who usually gets to bowls. It also might impact what ticket guarantee the AD can give the bowl based on how many he thinks he can sell to supporters. Can’t blame the bowls or the Athletic Department, it is a business at that point in mid-level bowl decisions.

            I found this regarding the 2011 payouts…

            SEC BOWL REVENUE DISTRIBUTION

The remainder shall be remitted to the Commissioner and will be divided into 13 equal shares with one share to the Conference and one share to each member institution.

            NONE

I like the idea of the best teams moving on late in the season by WINNING games. Sort of like we had to do vs GT and will have to do vs BAMA. A 4 game playoff would be epic this year…a possible UF rematch in Miami…great…beating them twice in a season…priceless.

That said, great year so far for UGA…

I enjoy the blog. Keep it up.

At the end of the day NO ONE can bitch about this team. To start the season everyone was thinking this was probably a 10-2 team, with a slight chance for 11-1, but no one would have thought this team would be in the title race this late. Well, here we are, 11-1 going to the SEC Champ for a shot at it all.

It’s about time we all stop bitching and come together to support this team and Mark Richt.

Really though, beating Bama is the NC for us. We will be remembered far more for defeating “the unstoppable” Bama team, than for beating ND for the NC.

Good post Merk. I felt at the beginning of the season 11-1 was tops, with 10-2 most likely. I revised that down after watching the defense the first two games, and I am happy to admit I was wrong about them. They hit their stride around the 1/3 mark and have been very impressive (except for pass defense). We are in a great position with our goals still in tact. Anyone that levels more blasts at this group should have to tell them to their face.

The Mayans missed it…next Sat is the end of days…

Forget about the National Championship implications of next weekend for a minute and think about the UGA story arcs that will collide and will be resolved….

Disney and Doomsday Dawgs face off as Richt has a chance to match wits with Saban himself…the example of all that is good in coaching according to Richt advocates vs. the devil incarnate…the evil coaching genius… Can Richt win against this midget devil?

Can good hearted 75 schollys beat oversigning?….can “hit them till they quit” win against “pool day”?….can the 08 Bama blackout be avenged?

Bobo will get the chance to prove his worth against the defensive genius himself…will this be the stage where the 3rd and long sprint draw comes into its own? Will a win against Saban give Bobo the ultimate “Fuck You!” against his detractors?

Will Murray…criticized for not being able to perform in the big game…be able to prove his critics wrong in what is the biggest game for UGA since the early 1980’s? Is 5’101/2″ big enough?

Will Russ …the “impure one” ….be the dawg to bring it home?

    Damn boys….worlds will collide next Sat…prepare thyselves…

As much as they wanted to pretend that losing to Georgia didn’t hurt because they thought this was a rebuilding year, the Florida Gators were in the national championship picture on Saturday afternoon. Now they aren’t. Notre Dame beating USC was the last nail in the coffin, but UGA put them in the coffin to begin with. Georgia eliminated Florida’s shot at an SEC and National Championship. Hell. Yes.

That was for 2002 and Terrance Edwards, you Saurian Sum’bitches.

I was impressed when I got home yesterday afternoon and watched Florida turn it on against F$U in the fourth quarter, because they had something to play for, and then the more and more the ND-U$C game played out, was happy to see the Irish potatoe-eaters win, because Gator tears taste so sweet when they hit your lips!!!
