The most morose comment you’ll read on StingTalk can’t touch the way the genius won the presser yesterday with his unique wit and charm.
“Really? Were you watching the game? Do you think it mattered where they got the ball?”
Johnson, in response to a question about Georgia’s field-position advantage in the first half
If the Jackets don’t win the World’s Smallest Outdoor Cocktail Party (which shrunk even smaller after yesterday’s 4-0 conference waxing at the hands of the SEC) this week, they’ll be 6-7 and miss out on a bowl game for the first time in over a decade. That should make for some excellent quips.
You don’t feel like that is a better quote than Grantham’s for this week? I can’t help but laugh reading that.

Who made the better decision:
Miami turned down the opportunity to play in the craptastic championship game; or
Maryland turned down the opportunity to continue to play in the craptastic conference?

If Miami had chose to stay bowl eligible, GTU would now be bowl eligible. Miami’s decision may keep TWO teams from the ACC out of the bowls….heh heh heh

7-6 in the Orange Bowl, or 6-7 and sitting at home. I don’t know which is worse?

For the ACC, the former. For GT, the latter.

Tech could be going to a BCS bowl while we play some Big 10 has-been in Orlando.

and monkeys might fly out of my butt. Paul Johnson has a better chance of being eaten by a polar bear in Charlotte next week than he does of coaching the craptastic Pencil Neck Jackets to a win.

I’d kinda like to see some of those things, though 🙂

Presenting…in the Orange Bowl…your Yellow Jackets! vs the Scarlet Knights!…or maybe even the Golden Flashes! I’m dazzled by the palate possibilities.

Just amazin.’ I am amazed that the Flashes are even in consideration with the one loss being 47-14 to…wait for it…
Kentucky.
Yes, Kentucky’s lone FBS win is a ripping blowout over a team that could make a BCS bowl.

That made me spew my coffee…”wsocp” indeed!
And PJ’s comment made me lmao. But the best laugh was at the nerd who thought Georgia won because they caught Tech “looking ahead to FSU”.
Everyone needs to go read it…it’s good for the soul!

Is “fading apart” the same thing as quitting ? Guess GT forgot to use the ole “motivational stone.”

You have to admire his honesty, though. Much better than trying to make excuses.

At 6-7, Tech could still get a bowl-eligibility waiver from the NCAA to be considered as a team with a sub-.500 record, Like UCLA last year (if they lose to FSU).
At least that streak is still alive!

Barb…I think the NCAA closed that loophole after last year.

There are already 70 teams that are bowl eligible. I don’t think Tech can get a waiver under those circumstances.

This may sound a little crazy, but one of the comments made by a nerd on stingtalk was pretty interesting.. He said that FSU would be exhausted after their war with Florida (they did seem pretty beat up) and would not have the prep time for the tripoption that UGA had. It’s true that GT can move it up and down the field….they may pull it off against a tired and poorly prepared FSU…

IF FSU’s offense doesn’t show up, yes.

Senator, that’s what I like about you. Behind that veneer of cynicism; that mask of cold disdain for Tower NATS, lies the palpating heart of one mean-ass Tech-hatin’ muther.
And boy, do I love it!

This is an example of what I truly do like about CPJ. He has the perfect temperament for head coach at Georgia Tech: curmudgeonly with a healthy side of dour. There’s something oddly appealing about his attitude. It says: “I’m too good for you to fire, but I’m too bad for you to love me, so here we are…” I can’t help but like the guy. My Mom’s family hails from New England, and CPJ has a very New England sensibility.

It is an unusual remark for a head coach to make. I can only imagine the DC’s reaction to it. I think it’s funny and it kind of shows a defeated attitude.

lest we forget, congratulations to Coach Paul Johnson on acheiving his first “Golden Sombrero” for coaching Tech to an 0-4 streak. This year’s GT senior class will be in his debt forever, as they look back on a career in which the margin of defeat by UGA got bigger every year. See, nerds, we call that “a trend.” If your defense was any more porous, Tech would be a 6 point dog to Parkview.

Last time in Athens, CPJ instructed his defense to ket us score. You think he forgot to tell his defense his intentions had changed?

They are just a sad, pathetic little lot running such an outdated and over-matched system that just has no business being around in today’s modern world.
And their football team sucks too.
