Surely, defense-attorney-to-the-Gators Huntley Johnson will argue handcuffing and booking a 19-year-old for unauthorized canine interaction is a bit overzealous. Johnson likely will argue Morrison, already on the hook for two ride-alongs, simply wanted to have another meaningful dialogue with a law enforcement officer. According to Deputy William Arnold’s report, Morrison explained later that he barked only after Bear barked at him. Arnold was not sufficiently moved by Morrison’s reasoning.
I expect to see the fruits of a creative Dawgnation on display in Jacksonville this year. In the meantime, that’ll do.

I really hate to take the side of a Gator but there are way too many laws enforced far too capriciously….do we really think this law will not be enforced against UGA fans in Jacksonville by an overzealous Fla State Trooper?

State Attorney Bill (who has gained a well-deserved reputation throughout The SEC as a Players’ Prosecutor) stands ground and has an intent to look at a statute prior to engaging remote release procedure mechanism restoring freedoms to Antonio “I’m Antonio!” Morrison who is clearly not bad to the bone:
“Based on the initial report, I have to question the sufficiency of the evidence to constitute a crime,” said State Attorney Bill Cervone. “Simply barking at a dog may not be enough. I’ll have to look at the statute,” he said, noting that the law calls for malicious intent…. Arnold was talking to several men in a car and had activated the automatic door release on his cruiser in case he had to remotely release the dog, named Bear….Cervone said he has some questions about whether Morrison should have been arrested in the first place and he will be interviewing Arnold as soon as possible….[yada yada]….Morrison told the bouncer, “Don’t you know who I am? I’m a football player. I’m Antonio!” Morrison then hit the bouncer with his fist on top of the head.”

I doubt that he gets into so much trouble that we miss him at the WLOCP. “Simply barking at a dog.” It was a little more than that. It was a police dog. So it’s alright to “harasses, tease and interfer with”….. as long as it is not “malicious”? Cervone is no loafer and has a pretty good back ground as an attorney. Goodness.
Morrison was charged with violation code 843.19.4, which reads: (4) Any person who intentionally or knowingly maliciously harasses, teases, interferes with, or attempts to interfere with a police dog, fire dog, SAR dog, or police horse while the animal is in the performance of its duties commits a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.

Brett Baer just ran this story on the evening (FOX) news! They put up a picture of Antonio that looked kind of like a police “booking” photo. It really does seem a little over the top.
