You won’t like Tony Barnhart when he gets mad.

So, Mr. Conventional Wisdom rips the NCAA for its handling of the Kolton Houston matter and I can’t figure out if the bigger deal about it is his outrage over what Houston went through or that the NCAA is in such a weakened state these days that even Barnhart has no problem smacking it around in public.

I believe it’s called “piling on”. Where was the outrage when it was needed and could have meant something?

Russ, I agree. It’s also “Me Too”.

It’s not like Tony has been in the dark on Kolton, being the supposed UGA fan that he is as well as still being with the AJC for part of this saga.

Way to bring up the rear on this issue, Tony. Are we sure there isn’t a computer program that pumps his columns out for him??

    When you’ve lost Tony Barnhart….

But I have to say this for the 1000th time. Every time I read an article like this, I just couldn’t be more proud of The University for supporting this kid and helping make the case, Mark Richt for his stance overall and honoring the scholarship. And most of all to Ron Courson for having the foresight to make the case. Call me old fashioned, but it’s stuff like this that makes me proud to call myself a bulldog. Even more than winning titles. This is about our integrity, and means more to me than anything. Congrats again to Kolton.

One day, the NCAA will be forced to apologize for something. And the last sentence of whatever carefully crafted (read: crap) statement will say something like, “We hope that the member institutions will work with us going forward.” I hope ADGM is the first responder by saying, “Hell, no we won’t work with you and quite frankly, we’re a little surprised at the request”.

I hate being bitter, but it’s so easy.

  4. Personally feel like Barnhart has been holding his tongue on this one for concern how the NCAA would react towards Kolton. Yes – his Emmertness is that petty…

Too bad there is not an arbitrary number out there which is used to measure the douchebagerry of NCAA presidents. Emmert would be history.

Pardon me, but the way we stood behind Kolton, coupled with the fact that Richt scholarships are 4 year scholarships, is a significant recruiting asset. More to parents than players, but still significant.

Mr Conventional Wisdom reminds me of the Florida beat writers who have recently become emboldened after 37F doesn’t loom as large. What a bunch of p*****s.

Who outside the Georgia fan base knows this story? Or knew about it prior to MCW giving it a wider audience? It serves a small purpose, which is another nail into the coffin of the corpse that is Emmert’s NCAA.
