Not a Carvel fan, but Andy McCollum is a hoot.

  2. On the assistant coach that used to be at SC, now at UF, not sure I understand why the high school coach would have a beef with him. I vaguely remember this situation because I remember Spurrier calling out his own admissions office, so it wasn’t like the coaches did anything to screw the kid in that scenario, if anything the coaching staff was willing to go public and fight for him. What am I missing?

Didn’t run it by the admission office first? If the coaches were assuming, then the kid paid the price, right?

      • If that were the case, then yes. I can’t remember the specifics. As best I can remember, the coaches were really surprised that the admissions office turned the kid away. I don’t remember if it was a failure on the coaches’ parts to check it out, or if it was a last minute surprise decision by the admissions office, even though the coaches had done their part. Regardless though, it doesn’t seem like anything the coach did to intentionally hurt the kid……if the high school coach still holds a grudge 7 years later, seems a bit extreme.

“One phrase from a mom comes to mind: ‘used car salesmen.’ ” (Kansas)
Used cars with a schematic advantage…who knew?

I am so glad Butch Jones has built a wall around Tennessee, with the exception of Bobby Etter, all we have done with kids from Tennessee is waste scholarships…Jimmy Hockaday, Really?

Nice for UT fans to have something to chatter about…in five or six years, if this trend continues under the new coaching staff, they ought to be competitive again.

Great line…rebuilding in the SEC is like rebuilding during a hurricane.

    • I don’t know . Seems like we swapped Duh Rick for a pretty good WR out of Tennessee. I don’t recall his name but I think he hurt knee against Vandy. In pros now?

Oh yeah…the Brown kid from Meamphus…Meamphus has produced a good many college players over the years….Bama used to do well there…until Albert Means…

Since I live here, I have always been pretty sensitive to touted players from Tennessee who go to Georgia…most of them are flops.

In fact, seems like Tennessee’s national championship team had either one or no starters from Tennessee…state just does not produce a lot of SEC caliber players.

Yep, Marlon Brown was a quality get for us. Ball has built such a deep roster at WR, even talent like Brown has to fight to get on the field. Plus, injuries hampered him. But I wish him the best and very happy DaRick never landed in Athens.

I was surprised at how unpopular Briles seems to be. He came out of the Texas high school ranks, so you would think he would be a more popular member of that fraternity.
