If anything, the UGA AD should send the Louisville AD a 100k check as a nice thank you for taking CTG off our hands. To rid ourselves of him and to land Pruitt just a day or two later, well, let’s just say someone above was smiling down on us.

As Dawg fans we should all rejoice in Grathams departure. However, we should all remember that Richt WANTED him back.

I’m not as sure about that as you are, Skeptic. It looked like B-M didn’t want to pay Grantham’s final year’s salary as severance so CMR was stuck with him until the end of the ’14 season. As always, CMR put a good face on it. But the way CMR reacted to Grantham leaving and how he immediately moved to hire Pruitt says more than what he said verbally about Grantham IMHO.

On top of that, it was absolutely clear that, by the Mizzou and especially the Vandy game, CMR was completely frustrated by CTG and the D’s lack of performance. Some of the looks CMR gave CTG during games pretty much said at all, and there were even some choice words spoken by CMR to him that didn’t exactly seem polite and cordial.

PTC Dawg…Completely false based on what we as fans know and have knowledge of. Richt said he wanted Grantham back. He stood up and gave his speech on continuity of the coaching staff. Grantham is the one that walked out on Richt, most certainly not the other way around. Those are the facts. As fans we can say the Mizzou game with the tipping point (I agree with you 100% on that one and have said so on this blog), and Richt could have canned him then or any time there after. But he did not. Why? Your guess is as good as mine. All we know is that he would have been back if not for Bobby. Richt has proven in te past that he is willing to hang on to coaches far too long. Grantham is just another example of that.

Being left no choice but to keep him is a long way from “wanting” him back. Why would you even think this, or do you just say it to trash the program? Never understood guys like you; faux fan or just a miserable person?

Why is it when someone criticizes a decision by a coach is he a “faux fan” or a “miserable person”? Are you a miserable dad because you don’t agree with every decision your kid makes or a miserable husband because you don’t agree with all of your wife’s decisions? Why is it that being a fan necessitates being 100% in agreement with everything our coach does? Just curious.

Since you are curious, I will be happy to explain my position on why I posted that. First of all, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being critical of, or not agreeing with any coach, child, or spouse. But there should be balance, I don’t trust anyone who always supports, or always criticizes.
If you have been around this blog for a few years you will see that 95% of this commenter’s statements are negative. Do you think that Mark Richt has scored a 5 as UGA’s head coach? He is an A coach, not perfect, but damned good yet this person constantly tears him down. If you had a child that scored 92 on tests consistently and heard negative drivel from you as a father, what would people think of you as a Dad? And what would be the impact on that child over time?
So when someone beats the HC up continually from behind a keyboard, he must have an agenda (not a fan), or be a person who has such a negative slant toward that coach, program, or child, that he goes through life being miserable because he majors in minors. I am almost as turned off by cheerleaders who never see work that must be done to improve, but overly enthusiastic fans are easier to understand and make people feel better, constant attacks are different and not as tolerable. Following sports as a fan is supposed to be a pleasant experience because it is voluntary, and I don’t want to be around those type people. To be so unhappy about something you do in your “free” time is pretty dumb, I have this same reaction about my golf game. If I am going to take it so seriously that I expect to shoot near par every day and am unhappy when I don’t, I need to find another sport because that is one which cannot be mastered on a daily basis.
My post had nothing to do with a person not criticizing a coach, but it is irritating to see someone take cheap shots continually with no credit given for the positives. When somebody does that, they can expect to get labeled as a bad fan, at least by me. Personally, I think this “out of balance” guy probably considers himself a fan, I don’t think he is a troll from another program. But he is a “Disney Dawg” type of fan because he has such unrealistic expectations and lives in a fantasy world, one in which he is a miserable person in. That is my opinion, you may choose to hang out with him if you like, I will be in the bar with, almost, everyone else here before that one.

If anything, we the fans should be thanking Petrino and the Louisville AD for taking him off our hands b/c our head coach and AD wanted to keep him around.

I’m still am amazed at the money paid to even the entry level coaches. Lamar Thomas got fired from commentating and was making $75K at Western Kentucky, but Louisville hires him at $200K. For that they might as well hire from the CFL, no?

One of the great moments in Comcast history in which Lamar, a humorist, was primed to emerge from a press-box and meet somebody by the tunnel for a Dade County brawl that marked tremendous progress for the Miami program:

Well, rumor is that they first offered Mike Locksley but Randy Edsall didn’t want to let him go so they went with Lamar because the first rule of fight club is always talk about it. It is generally thought that Lamar will be able to assist Todd whenever the need for a choke sign arises

How did the Grantham buyout end up so small? I thought they had to pay the year of salary remaining on his contract. (By the way, I’m not complaining, I agree we owe UL a debt of gratitude for taking that schmuck off our hands.)

Only thing I can figure is he agreed to take lower buyouts in exchange for higher potential bonuses. I mean, his salary is ridiculous to start with, and now it comes out he can make up to almost another $500K in bonuses!
