“I live [in] Georgia and would be crucified if my name was released.”

There is something I do blame Todd Gurley for… thinking that a guy this stupid would be discreet.

I would also like to make a bold prediction about tomorrow’s game. Chubb and Douglas are going to be so effective that the TV announcers are going to be saying ” the Dawgs don’t even need Gurley.”

Hate to tell you this, but this is just one guy. Word is UGA has spoken with several dealers who all confirmed they paid Gurley. I am hearing numbers in the thousands of dollars.

And I’m sure they had legit proof, unlike this guy’s “no it doesn’t show money changing hands” right? Otherwise, someone should as McGarity why Gurley wasn’t suspended over obvious bullshit assault charges too, as right now they both have the same amount of proof.

Not disputing you but UGA has no subpoena power and doesn’t have any benefits to give to guys who pay under the table, so why would guys paying under the table snitch? Seems it would make it harder to get guys to sign for them.

I’m sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere. If so, lead me in the right direction, please. But what I don’t understand is what motivates these people to out someone like Gurley. I thought the same thing about Manziel. Maybe he was scorned by Gurley and it was payback?

Gurley apparently signed a bunch of other autographs with other folks, thus the ones he did with this guy weren’t as exclusive and thus their value decreased.

      Like

      • Will

This guy was fucking stupid then. If I’m a dealer, unless I offer a ridiculous number of them, why does the player stop accepting offers to sign memorabilia? If I hit you with 10k for a football, sure, you’ll probably stick with me. But the report indicated he wanted something like $8-$25 per signature depending on the number done. For that money, I’d be signing shit for people every day, all day. Fuck you, random guy who gave me a couple hundred dollars.

I mean, fuck him anyways, that piece of straight garbage. But still.

So now, since every player knows he did this he will nevery get another player to sign for him. Dumbass is scuttling his business.

Go read the Deadspin story. He said that he paid Gurley for autographs and that Gurley was flooding the market with autographs for other vendors and he was just trying to sell the video to a web media outlet to recoup some of his lost “investment” because the autographed items declined in value.

The idiot dealer really shot himself in the foot. If he just had waited and Gurley did win the Heisman all that stuff would have quadrupled in value. Now he is a pariah in his home state and probably has guys looking for him all over the place. I do not feel sorry for him, though.

    • He said he was trying to recoup some of his losses (value of gurley signed items dropping) by selling the story. He was mad that Gurley either was selling his autograph to others, or that he stopped selling them altogether. Spiteful greedy scumbag, and an idiot to boot.

Hackers got into the phones of celebrities and stole pictures, some of which HAD ALREADY BEEN DELETED, and this guy thinks he’s gonna get away with sabotaging someone for no good reason by emailing at least a half dozen different people and giving out his full name and cell phone number?

Not to mention the very guy that he’s screwing over knows who he is and has no reason in the world to not divulge his identity to the masses.

Apparently, he was peddling the story to anyone who’d listen trying to sell it to ESPN, Sports illustrated and 10-20 other publications. When asked by one of the publications why he was trying to share this story with them, this is the rationale he gave via email to them:

“Again, not offended at all if you have no interest. TMZ has seen the video but NP (no payment) offer has been made.

Again, not trying to get rich. I spent a few grand on the signing and Gurley has since kind of screwed me by doing this with about 30 other guys. The stuff has lost a ton of its value. Just wanna recoup some of my money.”

Amazing how he was fine with Gurley breaking the rules until this douche bag realized he wasn’t the only one benefiting and then decided to throw Gurley under the bus.

Perhaps the Senator can weigh in here, but, this clown-ass seems like the type that would have also left a text/voicemail/email/twitter trail telling Gurley that ‘you either sign only for me, or I’ll ruin your life’, which, if I recall, is something approaching either blackmail, extortion, or both. Assuming this guy is the snitch, I’d LOVE to see him get run up on extortion charges…

He’s obviously a dummy so he’s most likely screwed up somewhere along the line in this. If he’s using UGA logo on any of his junk, there would be grounds for the Universtiy to sue him, Aye? I’d bet there is blackmail / extortion here somewhere. That may be why he needs a lawyah.

While I can understand why some would be upset with him, the majority of the blame lies with Gurley. After all, he’s the one who chose to break the rules, which ultimately set him up for this.

There’s an old saying….those who are willing to do something (notably wrong/ or illegal) with you, they’ll also do to you. When you engage in transactions with knuckleheads like this, you can expect them to sell you down the river the first chance they get.

OK, so Auburn has guys go on HBO and say they were paid, an Auburn booster was being investigated by the FBI for using his bank as a money laundering scheme to funnel money to Auburn players, and the NCAA does very little. Posted on the net is a video of Allen speaking of clothing, autographs, and etc at his store in Rome Georgia. Did he sell those at that store and how did those purchasers know they were authentice? His representation or, plus I have a video. How many are left in inventory? How did he know others were sold at a greater or less value. Who did he link too.
Hopefully the state attorney general and GBI go into this.
    But here is the list.
    Wally Butts
    Jan Kemp
    Damon Evans
    A J Green
    Josh Havey Clemons
    Trey Matthews
    T Gurley
    and etc
    Where and will it end.
Hopefully somebody in north Georgia has what it takes to shut this person down.
Regretable but you are already hearing some Georgia folks saying they are just going to tune out this year considering all the dismissals, permanent injuries, and overall play. They say it is not worth the time and money anymore.
But things have to change at UGA.

If you’ll look at an earlier thread, I predicted that. It smelled like FU all along. Not UT or USC because we already have played them and the hammer would have been dropped before their game with Georgia. Not Tech–too soon. Tech would have waited to be closer to the COFH game for maximum effect. Not Mizzou because dropping that bomb 3 days before the Mizzou-UGA game would have been too obvious. Auburn was a possibility but Auburn is in the West and wouldn’t benefit as much as a division rival would. This screamed “FU.” A put up job done by a Gayturd moron.

Why would the snitch/”business man” turn Gurley in mid season when surely if Gurley won the Heisman, the merchandise would be worth a lot more. Unless the point was always to get Gurley suspended and get a bigger pay-off b/c right now, anything with Todd Gurley’s name on it ain’t selling.

If Todd has smart advisors he has played his last free game of football. If the AD got him to confess then I have a degree from the dumbest university in the world. The old saying is that Good guys finish last and UGA is living proof of that.
If I was Gurley I would issue a statement apologizing to the fans and my teammates but I would not mention the University or the NCAA, both of which can just screw themselves. I would explain that I knew what I was violating the NCAA rules but as a thoughtful black man I felt the rule was Un-American and immoral. That an Organization built for the sole purpose of exploiting for profit 18 to 22 year olds has outlived it’s evil life I will make it up to may fans and teammates by being the best NFL running back I can be. This team has lost so many of the players I came in with that my absence will not hurt it.

I have a slightly different take. If I were Gurley’s attorney I would advise him to say nothing either in public, on social media, in private or in any way at all about this subject. If someone were to ask him about this my advice would be to walk away immediately without uttering a syllable.

Funny how the more the facts come out….facts matter. Yet another sad a sordid tale of Big Business CFB, media, fans, etc.

I’m numb. Maybe amatuer football and the pageantry and glory of cheering for your alma mater was always a myth. Maybe UGA’s historic role will not be the Gurley affair, but back to 1980 (again) as being the beginning of the end.

Posting here at #130+ I almost have to wonder if the Senator is ready to quit too. Somehow I envision one day we will find that he’s just stopped posting. No farewell, no rant, just walking away. Look at the recent MNC participants and Heisman winners…is there really anything left to cheer for? Did we all buy in, just a little bit, that Gurley was going to resurrect 1980? Isn’t it clear that will NEVER happen again, not just for UGA, but anybody?

Deep breath. I want to write a requiem. I’ll wait 24 hours. I’ll keep my Fabris Pool pick for the Dawgs. I’ll pray I get excited as say Goooo Dawgs Sic’em Woof when toe first meets leather tomorrow.
