“(Money) did not have anything to do with it.”

Mike Bobo takes Butts-Mehre off the hook.

“At the same time, I felt like I was at the point in my career that I might have a chance at some opportunities and I wanted to explore those opportunities this year. When Colorado State came open, I had followed it a little bit because of (Jim) McElwain. He was an SEC guy and it intrigued me. So I said I was interested and it kind of went from there. The interest was there and it and just took off. It was the right fit at the right time and that’s what I felt in my heart.”

Good for him.  And note that later in the interview, he still refers to Georgia as “we”.  He’ll always be a Georgia guy.

Good article, much to the dismay of some.

I noticed that “We” too. Thought it was interesting. Can’t imagine he’d ever see himself as anything other than a Dawg.

B-M takes some well deserved bashing for frugality, but they were never on “the hook” in this particular situation. No raise was going to keep Bobo from taking a head coaching job he wanted and was offered.

I suppose it would be too much to ask you to put a frickin reference in there now wouldn’t it?

I can only assume he’s referring to an Edward Ashcroff blog post that says the “internet is ablaze with rumors” of Pruitt leaving after one year. Nothing of any actual substance.

Hmmm. Not familiar with your handle.
I can’t google any ref to any thing being ablaze per Pruitt. I changed the search up 1/2 doz ways. Nothing even smolders. So methinks your trolling. Bluto let’s that by and gives free range. He let’s me stay so why not you. But still …you assume… but Red is right. You could and should have posted the link. Sooo you suck! Ok. I feel better.

Wow, no I’m not trolling. Was just trying to help the guy who was upset that the prior poster didn’t provide a link. I didn’t think it was worth linking to aschcroff’s piece. It was shit and I couldn’t stand to read it. I guess next time I’ll post the link…

the only question is….how did McGarity trick Bobo into taking more money and a higher position than Georgia could offer?

Here’s the link to the ESPN article that mentions CJP rumors:

    http://m.espn.go.com/general/blogs/blogpost?blogname=sec&id=96089

In case the link doesn’t work, I found it on the SEC blog section in the NCAA Football area.

There wasn’t much about Pruitt beyond that one sentence.

I agree CMB was going for the opportunity to be a HC regardless of us offering another $300-400K, and he should go and take his shot. But that does not excuse the poor attitude from UGA and the AD about salaries, facilities, and supporting the program.

And there is a lot of smoke these days about discord between the football staff and McFrugal, that is particularly troubling. This guy has added nothing since arriving but has put his foot in his mouth a few times. He seems totally incompetent in his performance thus far but we can deal with incompetence from an administrator, we cannot have him undermining coaches and not supporting the troops and giving them what they need to compete, or at least getting us close.

Mike has earned the opportunity and many of us will be pulling for him to be a success as a head coach.

Mike is also smart enough not to burn his bridges by blowing the whistle on the way UGA has been redirecting large sums of athletic money away from its athlelic teams, especially in the past two and a half years.

That job will fall to people with a much higher pay grade than Mike.

Thought it was interesting he mentioned Lilly “being trained for this”. Although not reading much into it.

Now Jeremy Pruitt on the other hand…his buddies have left and he’s realizing that UGA admin & financial support is vastly inferior to what he’s accustomed to at FSU and UA. Interesting to see what develops after bowl season. Stay tuned

Attaboy! Join Ashcroft by first setting a straw-man foundation for your rumor. We will just hang on for all we are worth waiting anxiously. Not.

“he’s realizing ” Yea because he didn’t check it out BEFORE he took the UGA job.

Pruitt certainly knew the salary structure and secured a raise with B-M from his FSU position. I don’t recall the focus on B-M then as we have now due mostly to the latest Bobo chapter. Certainly Grantham didn’t make anything of it anymore than Pruitt did with his change. Specifically, Pruitt changed jobs to be with Richt. So what was there to “check out”? The lack of class between the admin and the football staff? Since being here he has noted the purposeful dulling affect the admin has had on his father’s admiration of an iconic Richt and has remarked on it by way of the IPF. We, as fans can’t even “check out” the “Good Ole Boys” and their input through all of this, so how was Pruitt going to “check it out” any further than he did?

Ashcroft reads blogs, I’m sure, and knows the vibes between fans and the admin. He took advantage of that and generated comment by inserting the needle of rumor into the situation just for clicks. Also, haven’t you noticed that once a theme surfaces as to who is in the powerful position of “knowing” in the press (Harbaugh and predictions ), the rat race of who is “in the know” grows to sewer rat size? Asshat is just putting his bait in the water looking for a bite.

With all the shit that’s flying in the press, there has to be an asshole somewhere in there. Remember the old bromide about opinion? I’m sure that applies to rumor as well. None of it logically applies to Pruitt.

Once again, Bobo shows quiet class while the admin remains galvanized into inactivity.

Are you saying Bobo WOULD have stayed but for a raise to less money than he gets at CSU?

    Love that.

Mike Bobo is a DGD. I’ve always felt he was promoted to OC too early and we suffered a good 4-5 years of his “on the job training.” But eventually he came into his own and is a very good OC.

I am glad he is going elsewhere to get some head coaching experience rather than just hanging around here as OC until CMR retires and then CMB gets the job by default. That’s no way to earn a head coaching position.

I’m not saying I think he’ll definitely be back. Who knows. But if he does return some day as head coach, this is a much better path imho.
