From Jake Rowe’s South Carolina preview:
Anyone who thinks South Carolina will back down from the Bulldogs just doesn’t understand this rivalry. Two things are for certain here. First of all, South Carolina will be ready to play. Secondly, not only will it be ready to play, but Georgia will get the Gamecocks’ best shot. [Emphasis added.]
Well played, everyone.

Does that guy seem like a glorified DawgVent commentator?
Also, after watching DeShaun Watson last night, I’m not sure he looked like the type of player one “promises” to start. But then, “he was probably going to Clemson anyway.”

Same thought while watching. For fun, I imagined every pass thrown by Watson was thrown by Lambert. This blog would have been venting by halftime because he didn’t look as good as Lambert.
We gotta start ‘preciating what we got, folks. Here’s hoping he has a great game, not because I would like the unfairness toward an individual player defused, but because I want us to win with confidence in the players’ hearts.

Pray tell, just what did they do in their first two games? Less than their best shot? No wonder they lost!
If anyone thinks they didn’t scratch and claw to their best ability in those games has to be nutty. They will play with their best ability in all games, but I guess the psychological advantage they wish to get is up to the players. Jenkins and a few others will have something to say about attitude.
I’m sure someone has clued Greyson about past tactics and I’m sure it will be a movable feast in front of him; literally. Remember the flopping and shifting D that was their trademark in other meetings with us? I would think that would be confusing as hell with their constant D shifting and that they will use it in this game with a contrived idea that Greyson will be confused. Yep, he will be, but less so than other QBs that we have.
Here’s to Greyson making his bones tomorrow with a great and controlled game. Did I leave out the word “manage”?
I almost wish he would throw a couple of ducks early just to get blood pressure up in a few boilers. Gonna laugh like a troll if that happens. BTW, if any doubters didn’t read Seth’s radio program, you should avail yourself of it now. Overall, he’s a Dawg supporter and that includes Greyson Lambert. Enjoy.

Spurrier has Richt’s number. It is just that simple. On paper the Dawgs should hang half a hundred on Carolina this year. On the field it will be a different story. Carolina will look like a completely different team and the Dawgs will looked surprised. The game will be close in the 4th quarter and we will need a defensive stop to pull out a win as the clock winds down. Richt will put on his Captain Conservative hat and begin rooting for the clock to expire with 18 minutes left in the game.

Yawn. Dawgs roll, Spurrier’s rein is yesterday’s news (so is your continual dissing of our program/staff.) Join in the celebration and stop being the guy with the cold water ready to drench anyone who is enjoying this Dawgs team.

Cold water? Have we been watching the same team/coach? Last weekend was yet another example in long list of Captain Conservative examples. As for Spurrier and Carolina, not sure what you could possible disagree with. With lesser talent, staff and facilities Spurrier has won 4 of the last 5 vs Richt. Hoping something improves is not going to change the outcome. In this case, the outcome will be a close game with Richt crawling into his conservative shell hoping that the clock ticks away faster.

Macallan, you make it out like skeptic is being completely unreasonable but his prediction is a lot more likely than yours based on Richt’s history against Spurrier. Those calling for a blowout are setting themselves up for disappointment.
LikeLike
Of course, because your son still isn’t starting. Skeptic has been crying wolf so long no one pays attention any more. Would be kind of like expecting a balanced evaluation of the QB position from you. He is too deep in the losing well to have credibility, why would you want to join him? Richt hasn’t had to fire all his bullets at those two opening games, and likely won’t have to the next two Saturdays. Coaches that listen to the fringe fans aren’t long for their jobs.

What’s Richt’s record against Spurrier, Macallan? What’s the score from our games with SCAR been the past five? I’ll hang up and listen.

The record for UGA against SC under Mark Richt and Steve Spurrier. is 5-5. Neither coach EVER took the field son. Football is oh so much more than about one person. And you cannot select your own specific period of years to discuss something and expect it to be impactful. Were you first an FY before Brice enrolled at UGA? They only look at bits and pieces of things to make their points too, maybe because the whole picture is ugly to them.

Is it just me, or does the OBC look like he’s lost a little passion for the game. He doesn’t seem as fiery on the the sidelines, and his infamous comments at the end of last year about seeing himself at USCe for about 3 more years (which caused a recruiting shit storm) might have been a Freudian slip. Ultimately, this is probably one of his least talented teams overall since probably when he first came to USCe.
If the Dawgs cover and the Cocks go on to lose 2 weeks later @ Mizz, I don’t think they can recover, especially with the lack of team leadership the likes of a Connor Shaw brought.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it would be a sad day in CFB to see the OBC mail it in. That being said, lets hope the Dawgs bring it on Sat and see many visors thrown, instead of apathetic looks from the OBC.

It is no just you, he is smart enough to see the writing on the wall. This SC team will struggle to make a bad bowl, they should be 0-2 already, UNC handed them game 1 and he has said as much.
LikeLike
They will struggle and probably go to a bad bowl, but they might very well beat us. That was the exact story last season. The talent edge goes to Georgia, as it does pretty much every season. The coaching edge is not even close, Spurrier is light years ahead of Richt.
If Richt can manage not to crap his pants again, we should win. Our overall talent and depth should be able to save us.
LikeLike
One trick pony, Spurrier is the better game day play caller, but not a better HC. He was damned excellent when he had the talent edge. That horse has left the barn. And you still need to learn, HC’s aren’t the best indicator of winning and losing, it has always been the jimmies and joes in 90% of the games. But then, what would you have to comment on?

The section the Senator emphasized is why I wrote this* https://theeruditefan.wordpress.com/2015/09/17/georgia-vs-south-carolina-a-case-study-in-fan-ptsd/
UGA fans have created a bogeyman thanks to some inept decisions made my our own staff and a legitimate run by South Carolina beginning with Lattimore. This game shouldn’t be close. It should be a two touchdown win much like the Vandy game, yet the past shapes the perception of the future so much when these two teams play. The fact that the line opened at -16 and nearly 60% has been bet on Carolina…yet the number has climbed to -17 in some places tells me the pros are taking UGA to cover.

This is Spurrier’s worst team in years. Many of their weaknesses play to our strengths. They can’t stop the run, our run cannot be stopped. They have a walk-on QB in his first start, we have an aggressive, blitzing defense. If Richt cannot beat him this time, then he really should quit trying.

Damn, why doesn’t the author feel South Carolina will get Georgia’s best shot?

Exactly. Look I am well aware of how Spurrier has made a career of screwing things up for us. At SC he has done little more than beat us and then limp through the rest of his season most years. We should not have even lost to his best teams at SC. And I understand how pessimism is in the DNA of UGA fans. We were raised on Larry Munson after all. But I don’t care whether we get Spurrier’s “best shot” or he mails it in Saturday (can’t imagine why he would). Spurrier has very little to say about it. We are going to kick his smug little fat faced ass. Enjoy it folks.

Could have sworn we played them before five years ago. You sound like a FU fan using selective memory to define the whole. And it wasn’t like those were not competitive games. You would think they would have just crushed UGA consistently given the genius coach. Is every UGA loss all some of our fans can keep track off? Do we get no credit for winning? So after tomorrow, well they beat us several times in the last few decades. That is the limited view the Techsters bring to football.

predicting the Dawgs to go undefeated, 12 & 0. As to FU, I earlier attended

I also agree with “Huck”, the Senator, & the Skeptic Dawg about Spurrier
& how he approaches the “GA Game” every year. It Is “The Game” for him..
My 3 rivalry games in order are Fla,, Tenn. & Aubarn.
My final prediction in a hard fought game is Dawgs 24 : USCe 21.
I hope that I am wrong & we beat the spread & win “Running” Away..

No, you read mine again. I never said you predicted a loss. I said your comment about 4 of 5 doesn’t tell enough of a story. Take the whole of Richt’s UGA career, the whole of Spurrier’s career at SC, or the whole of both against each other. Just don’t slice and dice without providing more context, it is too Florida-ish.
I know you are a Dawg fan, and I don’t care about the spread in this game. I want a W, and would like to see us take some pressure off our line and RBs, not to please the fans but because that is the best way to play football if you have the capability. We can still keep a porttion of the playbook under wraps and do more than we have. I think we see that tonight.

I love the way Spurrier acts as if he had no idea Georgia dominated UF before he got there as coach…..as if he was not involved in any of it until then…..“When I got the job at Florida, Georgia was the team that was the thorn in the side of the Gators for history,” Spurrier said. “I think somebody said that every time the conference championship was on the line Georgia had won the game. If Georgia was involved in it or if Florida was involved in it, Georgia always won the game. So we needed to change that if we were going to ever win an SEC down there. And fortunately, we had a lot better players than they did in the early ’90s there to sort of get an upper hand.” Notice no mention of him living that as a player.
