The Lord giveth.

Remember this minor kerfuffle over Richt’s brother-in-law?  A real threat to the Republic, that was.

Welp, Casey Cagle’s using it to raise money to run for governor.

You see, Cagle has apparently begun organizing his 2018 campaign for governor. Around saving religion and college football. At the same time.

Here’s the headline of the fundraising letter that’s hitting mail boxes in his name: “Don’t Let Atheists Ban Georgia’s Football Chaplains.” The text includes these paragraphs (emphasis in the original):

An out-of-state group, “The Freedom from Religion Foundation,” has sent threatening letters to several Georgia universities demanding the schools dismiss their football team chaplains.

‘Murica, people!

Although if it works, maybe McGarity ought to look into using it to raise a few more bucks for the reserve fund.

1000% – I’ll vote against this guy just because he’s in the pockets of the distributors. How many good master brewers have left GA because of our antiquated system? F that guy.

Plus hearing about all the breweries doing better in NC than here because they can actually directly sell their beer.
Meanwhile we’re stuck with a senseless middlemen arrangement and less choice because “well that’s how we drew it up almost 100 years ago.”

Interesting to note the Creature Comforts efforts are made here in the Classic City. Trucked to Atlanta and then trucked back to Athens to be sold. Yikes.

They are also being wooed by South Carolina… If I were them, I’d move.

            • I guess that explains why it is easier to find in Atlanta stores than in Athens. I went to three package stores in Athens recently that were sold out of Athena Berliiner Weisse.

Fuck Cagle, the Leeberns, the Youngs, and that entire system of corruption

I live on the east side of Athens, and the package store right beside the publix always has tropicalia and Athena. If I usually go there for local stuff – 5 points bottle shop and most other places closer in town are always out.

Didnt know I would stir up some feelings.

Anyway, there is a ton of great beer being brewed in the state, but no doubt that the system is making it hard for breweries to succeed and those that do seriously think about leaving. Word on the street is that Terrapin is taking a serious look at moving.

The 2 months that you could easily get to go beer from the breweries was really great and so sad to see it get ripped away so quickly.

In California, we can now get growlers filled at any brewery. Used to be you had to have a growler from each brewery….

I took my girlfriend to the Vandy game this year. All of their ‘craft’ beer tasted like Budweiser® I was very happy to get back to California
