Uh….but what about after it was reported? Again, it’s back to what did you know and when did you know it? Don’t fault Starr for not knowing what went on…but I have a real problem with how it was handled after they found out.

Correct, UJ. Bill was off campus also, but that didn’t stop Kenny from racking up big bills to benefit himself and others on his “legal staff” plus set himself up for the payoff at a southern religious school as President. It makes him look especially trashy and politic-driven when, as a lawyer as well, he should stand for the law and public mores and morals above all.
Ken is a three-time hypocrite as a lawyer, a college president, and to his religion. I guess he still can go for a quartet as a law professor. Sheesh!

FWIW…local press in Texas explains that Starr’s reassignment is because he has tenure and thus can’t be fired, at least not without a legal proceeding. Like their AD, I would expect Mr. Starr to be leaving on his own sooner rather than later.

Starr will leave within two years. He was a tenured professor of Law at Pepperdine when he was hired by Baylor. My guess is that his contract with Baylor included tenure as part of the hiring.
FWIW, UGA had the same issue when Fred Davison was removed as President in wake of Jan Kemp. Davison stayed on until Spring of 88 as professor in the Vet School.
I would suspect that if they removed him outright, he would sue and probably have a decent shot at winning because of tenure.

She was 22 and older at all times, a college graduate, came from a wealthy family, grew up in the Brentwood area of LA, and by any account no force was involved. It just doesn’t get any more consensual than that, at least in a legal context, and that in your words she was “a young ambitious woman” doesn’t make it less consensual; if anything it makes it more consensual – she knew exactly what was happening.

At the time, her peers said she was proficient at the act, so feeling for the poor manipulated person here could probably be extended in the opposite direction as well, depending upon your perspective of “innocence”.
Once again, it depends upon whose ox is getting gored, but the pell-mell rush by the Republican mob to prosecute the President that ended in two House leaders falling on their hypocritical swords plus enduring further prosecution of failures into the future, leads me to believe it was all politics with a falderal ending highlighting the moral bankruptcy of our political leaders.
And here we are into the future, no better for it all and even worse for individuals like Hastert and Starr, two of the biggest players on the public stage of hypocrisy past.

Sorry buddy that’s incorrect. What happened there was consensual by every recognized definition. She was not coerced in any way. As current events have shown there are real issues about real sexual assault. Stop trying to redefine Bill and Monica’s sleazy behavior as anything more than that.

Starr should have called Bill Clinton for some advice. If Slick Willie were Prez of Baylor, he could have gotten out of this mess with one hand tied behind his back. Briles and the AD would still have their jobs and before it was all over Slick Willie would have gotten himself a blow job from the NCAA.
