Multiple sources told HornsDigest.com the Baylor board of regents on Monday will consider a one-year suspension for football coach Art Briles.
It’s unclear if there are enough votes to bring back Briles as football coach at Baylor in 2017. But the push to have the regents vote on a one-year suspension for Briles on Monday is being driven by some of the biggest big-money donors at the school – many of whom helped fund BU’s $300 million football stadium that opened in 2014, sources told HD.
Sources said Briles met with some key figures associated with the school last Thursday about the possibility of a one-year suspension as the Bears’ football coach. It’s unclear how Briles would feel about the move, sources said.
I take it for granted Briles’ feelings are the only ones that matter here.

All college/university boards and administration live in a bubble, but Baylor’s seems to be stronger and more opaque than most others. I think they really have absolutely no clue about 1) How serious their sins are and 2) how bad they look.

Yeah, the Title IX coordinator they’re required by federal law to have, but didn’t? It will take a long time but ultimately the feds will let Baylor know just how bad this situation really is. Hint, it’s really, really bad.

No. This is the resultant of big-money alums and their knowledge of what happened vs what they want? Sounds like a bunch of Donalds to me , especially when the subject of Briles letting the only right-headed player get beaten up in retribution from other players who liked the cover-up of their teammates. No one should play on that team that doesn’t have a sister, aunt, niece or any female family member to receive their conscience reminders or that would beat the football player with a big stick.
Briles tolerated the crimes, tolerated a beating of the only decent-acting and courageous player on the team, oversaw his staff as they stonewalled and discouraged the victims, denied the receipt of criminal info from other institutions and law-enforcement records about his players,….the litany goes on. Now the alums want to bring him back to let the NCAA uncover those rocks and to take their University, or what’s left of it, down the tubes, plus pay the lawsuits already instituted or about to be.
This, plus running the innocent new transfer players out of town because they had consensual sex, is a huge head-scratcher.

Because, as a Christian university, Title IX was Art’s ONLY reference point for moral obligation? And that would make it Starr’s fault for not implementing an effective Title IX office that could provide Briles effective moral instruction? Wow.

Title IX is a source of significant legal liability for Baylor, but it’s NOT why Briles, Starr, and McCaw are gone. Can someone please take a big money donor out for a few drinks off campus and then take him behind a woodshed to shove a broomstick up his ass? When you’re done, remind him that he thinks only Title IX covers the situation.

If Briles says no are they going to let him decide what if any punishment he is going to get? Maybe he can get re-baptized and all his sins will be washed away, it will be like it never happened 9to him anyway).
