“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
Interesting that he says he wants to do something constructive, because all his famous comments are destructive of somebody. Entertaining, yes, constructive, no.
The man is an ass. I hate him.

That’ll give ESPN plenty of time to find another color guy before sweeps.

ON TENNESSEE:
“Will be the 14th time I’ve coached in Neyland Stadium. … I’ve coached there more than some of their head coaches.”
“In Knoxville they’re still doing cartwheels because they went 7-6 and won a bowl.”
I think it will be fun listening to SOS.

ATHENS – Steve Spurrier hasn’t mellowed with age.
He’s 70 years old now and still says what’s on his mind, especially after a loss like Georgia’s 52-20 win over South Carolina at Sanford Stadium on Saturday night.
“They totally dominated us. …They clobbered us,” Spurrier said. “They’re a lot better than us. We’ve got to make some changes somewhere. We have to do something different.”

Spurrier is the worst sort of bad sport. He takes digs and gets snarky when he wins and that shows a total lack of class. When he loses, he tries to be gracious and put on the “aw shucks” act but he won’t stay around long at the post game press conference to answer questions and he throws the players and asst coaches under the bus for losses. I can never recall him taking any of the blame for a loss.
He can be honest in his assessments but that doesn’t make up for being an ass.

Spurrier could talk shit about Georgia the entire game and it would still be a huge step up from Mack Brown.

If somehow he gets paired up in the booth with Jesse Palmer, I will vomit until I die.

SOS: Attaboy chuck it in the seats…get to the next down.
JP: (Sarcastic) Oh—So, I guess that’s ok now, Coach?
SOS: Of course–why?
JP: Uhhh…because you got real mad and pulled me out of 10 different games for doing that.

In reality, he’ll hate it when he realizes that he’ll have to do prep work before going on air. We’re already subjected to Brent Musburger’s fixation on the one player he overheard the janitorial crew mention while he was pregaming on the press toilet. SOS would be worse.
