Your weekly non-Dawg game comment thread post

It seemed to work well last week, so what the heck.  Although the price we pay for letting ESPN front-load opening week is having an entire slate of games today without a single matchup between ranked teams.

Here are a few games to opine about:

Kentucky

Florida

3:30 PM

Believe it or not, this is what passes for CBS’ SEC game of the week.

South Carolina

Mississippi State

7:00 PM

The winner will lead its division.  Ponder that for a moment, because it won’t last.

Arkansas

#15TCU

7:00 PM

Can Bert’s crew pull off the upset?

North Carolina

Illinois

7:30 PM

I mention this one because it’s in Georgia’s interest to see the Heels winning games.

Iowa State

#16Iowa

7:30 PM

Nobody pays much attention to this game, but it’s actually a pretty nasty rivalry.

Virginia Tech

#17Tennessee

8:00 PM

Let’s face it — if this game were being played anywhere but on a race track, it would be getting about a tenth of the attention it is.

There you go.  Feel free to blather about these, or anything else that catches your eye.

Got a feeling that the Frogs are going down today. Patterson’s D was awful last week v S Dakota St giving up 41. I wouldn’t necessarily call it an upset as TCU seems to be way overranked. Take Bert and the points!

ESPN has dubbed it “Style Point Saturday.”

  5. Bristol would just be a new experience, but even if you are in the first row at the 50 yard line, all those athletes will just be ants to your playing the game.

Yeah, I’m interested in seeing how that works out. Wouldn’t mind it if the Hokies stomped the shit out of the Vawls, either. Crush their spirit.

    • It looked very cool from the blimp on TV, but I can’t imagine buying a ticket to watch that game. It had to be a terrible vantage point to watch the game be played other than on the screen above the track.

I don’t imagine this is going to become a regular event.

My Dad is an Iowa grad and fan so I’ve kept up with them through the years. This is usually a good game, competitive and ill-tempered as most rivalries are. It’s usually a good watch, especially if you just can’t bear watching Booch and the big urnge.

Not sure I want to see boom & scu with 2 sec wins this early, not that I think they’re a threat to win the division.

I am so proud one of my most loved teams gets a chance to be on national TV tonight. I just hope all of us wear the right Hokie hat.

Are there laps rather than quarters?

If I could get to see Florida, South Carolina, and Tennessee go down, Arkansas pull the upset, and have UNC win by about 40, I’d be one happy Dawg. But I think the only one that has a chance of happening is UNC.

I hope this is year year that the Mighty Gators pay off that Kentucky Mortgage. Your eyes are not deceiving you. Florida has beat Kentucky 29 straight times. The team hopes to make it 30 today.

Not feeling very optimistic about UGA against FU after watching that first half. Defense looks stifling and the offense looks much better than we did today. We have a lot growing up to do.

F’ing Gators seem to be loaded again. Now Boom is working his shrinking talent act on S. Carolina.
