Jesus, Booch, give it a rest, man.
It’s natural to assume that Tennessee, and sophomore defensive tackle Shy Tuttle in particular, might have some extra motivation this week.
With No. 11 Tennessee (4-0, 1-0 SEC) visiting No. 25 Georgia (3-1, 1-1) on Saturday at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga., Tuttle and the Vols will get their first shot at the Bulldogs since he was injured last season on a low block from behind by Georgia center Brandon Kublanow.
Tuttle suffered a broken fibula and torn ankle ligaments on the play, which sidelined him for the rest of his freshman season and resulted in a lengthy recovery that ultimately forced him to sit out the Vols’ season opener this year.
But Tennessee coach Butch Jones said Monday that Tuttle and his teammates won’t have revenge on their minds when they cross paths with Kublanow and the Bulldogs on Saturday.
“Again, it’s unfortunate that, that happened, but Shy has recovered from it,” Jones said during his weekly Monday press conference. “And you can’t focus on that. You have to focus on the task at hand and winning your one-on-one matchup and your preparation. I don’t even think he’s thinking about that, and neither are we.
“Again, it’s a new game. It’s a new season. It’s a new opportunity, so I don’t see that even entering in the thought process.”
The Vols clearly haven’t forgotten about the play, though. Jones referenced Kublanow’s hit on Tuttle earlier this month when he spoke to the Knoxville Quarterback Club, calling the block “unacceptable.”
I mean, if we’re gonna get into what’s unacceptable, let’s go through all of Georgia’s injuries in Knoxville during the last two visits, starting with Keith Marshall’s.
Your team’s favored and on a roll, Georgia’s reeling a bit and you want to gnaw over a football injury? I guess it beats having to discuss other painful topics.

Butch knows how important GA is to his recruiting, so I expect him to bad mouth the entire program as much as possible.
I really wanted to smoke them this year, but I just don’t know.
Although, I think they’ve recovered like 11 fumbles this year and haven’t lost one. It would be nice if that evened out a little….not that we know how to score off turnovers though.

They’ve recovered 17 of 20 fumbles and only lost one of their 12. It’s incredibly unsustainable.

UGA has been getting turnovers as well.
I hope UT comes in overconfident and UGA focused. It could be the classic trap game. UT also plays A&M and Bama immediately after UGA.

We’ve lost 4 of 5 fumbles and recovered 3 of 6 from opposition. That’s 7 of 12 and skews right towards that 50% mark that is pretty standard when it comes to fumble recoveries. Fumble recoveries in the long-run are a 50/50 proposition. The defense has created 9 turnovers, 6 of which are INT’s. High INT %’s are generally also unsustainable, but CFBstats.com says UGA has defended 13 passes. I’m not sure if total passes defended includes the INT’s or not; it would be a 31.5% INT rate if it doesn’t include or 46.1% INT rate if the 6 picks are included in those 13 passes defended. Neither of those two rates are as insane as recovering 85% of fumbles over four games. Basically we’re catching either 31.5% or 46.1% of passes that hit defenders hands. What Tennessee is doing right now is not normal and at some point they’re going to start regressing back to the mean. Hoping that starts this weekend.

Well it’s Monday afternoon and I am beginning to psyche myself out on how the Dawgs will turn it around this Saturday Home game, backs against the wall, embarrassed last week, big underdog, muted talent waiting to roar, overconfident Tennessee, Bootch on sideline, Dodd not throwing that well, etc.

Tuttle was injured because of how he landed, not because the hit itself was injurious. It was a little behind him, but he turned right after Brandon launched himself at Tuttle’s hip, which is where he struck him (as opposed to the knee or ankle or whatever). The outcome was unfortunate, but the hit wasn’t malicious or dirty. It is football. Those things happen. Kind of like how when a player attempts to give aid to an assault victim and then the coach calls him a traitor because some of the players committed the assault. It happens.

the block was perfectly legal …the fibula broke because the lard ass Tuttle fell with is own over sized ass straight down upon his own leg.. Watch the tape Tuttle was not engaged and it was not a clip. Hell I had no idea Brandon hit hard enough to move a piece of lard that far and knock him off his feet.
