Lay down your burden, Paul Johnson.

I don’t know if having zero fucks to give (h/t Charlie Pierce) makes the genius a better coach, but it sure makes for entertaining interviews.  I wonder if he’s ever thought about spicing up his radio show.  Somebody might actually listen.

The reality is no matter how good of a coach he may or may not be Johnson’s attitude with fans and the media is what will ultimately cost him his job. Reminds me of Jim Donnan’s last couple of years at UGA.

He’s definitely singing like a short timer. “Well why don’t you just fire me.” His new AD has got to be appreciating all this.

I wonder how strong the buyout terms are on the 5 years remaining on his contract.

Uh…no. If he was a good coach, he’d get a book deal ghost-wrtten by some hack entitled something like “Paul’s Process: How a Stubborn Coach continues to win with in today’s College Football”

What will cost him his job is that he doesn’t win enough football games.

Paul has already won. He has taken a personality disorder and an antiquated 1970s offense and made millions. I’d say that makes the dude brilliant. May he coach the trade school forever

I have a friend who was an SID for Johnson at one of his earlier stops. He says Johnson was an A-hole from day one. To everybody around him. He makes no attempt to hide his disdain for others and he does not discriminate. All are considered inferior. It’s just who he is.

If he was winning big he would be “no nonsense”, “plain spoken” and “gruff”. Since he’s not winning, he’s an asshole.
