Your weekly non-Dawg… er, no Dawg game day post, 10/22 edition

Focus, people.  There’s still plenty of college football being played today.

#22North Carolina

3:00 PM

You may not care, but my other alma mater is playing today.  Still hard to get a handle on North Carolina, which for now represents Georgia’s sole quality 2016 win.

#12West Virginia

3:30 PM

West Virginia’s ranked twelfth?  How did that happen?

#6Texas A&M

3:30 PM

The SEC West is running out of time to bring the Tide back to earth.

6:00 PM

This looks to be a good gauge of where both teams stand now.

Mississippi State

7:30 PM

Mississippi State gets a chance to prove it’s worthy of the SEC West.

Tennessee State

7:30 PM

Is there such a thing as a trap game for the Commodores?

Texas Tech

8:00 PM

What do I predict?  Scoring.  Lots of scoring.

#23Ole Miss

9:00 PM

I guess we’ll find out what kind of job Coach O is doing.

Add your thoughts in the comments.

You left out Texas-Kansas State? My wife won’t be pleased. Also, go Cubbies!

  2. Dolly Llama

You left off NC State and Louisville. Go Pack!

    • Dolly Llama

Lurking on an NCSU message board as they head into the second quarter of a slaughter. Most brutal comment yet:

“You guys are taking this way too seriously. The kids are having fun and that’s what matters.”

  3. Greg

LOL!!…..trap game for Vandy????……that is just mean.

  4. North State Dawg

Your other alma mater. I guess that helps explain your comment earlier in the week about a UVA win over UGA that “rekindled” your love of college football. I was intrigued by that post.

    • Hogbody Spradlin

Probably 1979. We lost to Clemson, UVA, and Wake Forest (remember Makovic’s Meatballs?)

Vince Dooley wins Coach of the Year. In the ACC.

      • Roterhals

Mackovic had a coronary after the game, wanting to know who this Rod Macho was that wrote that.

        • Russ

Yeah, he was a pretty literal dude. He was the “turd in the punch bowl” when he coached Texas. Just didn’t fit in at all.

          • Macallanlover

Good friend of mine, and no, John wasn’t ever going to wear jeans and boots at the BBQ, or sit around the campfire with the boys. But they liked him fine for a while they always do until things hit a rough patch.. He was coach of the year in the ACC, Big 10, and Big 12 in a 15 year period.

      • North State Dawg

So, the next season … A Freshman?

      • hooper

The 1979 team nearly won the SEC also!!! Think we were one game short of running the table in the SEC, but only beat one team out of Conf. Odd season!!

        • Biggus Rickus

Went 5-1 with a loss to Auburn (a game they led at the half, I think, before being destroyed in the second). It forced a change in the rule for the Sugar Bowl representative. At the time, Georgia would have gone ahead of undefeated Alabama, because in the event of a tie for the conference championship, the team furthest removed from their last appearance was selected.

  5. AusDawg85

If UVA wins…well, you must be conflicted

  6. AusDawg85

Not that it matters, but did anybody see the Oregon v. Cal game last night. Not only exciting, but I’m stunned the 2 point play by Cal late in the game was not reviewed or contested. I’m convinced there were only 6 men on the LOS. Can’t find anything about it in the news this morning, and no mention by the broadcasters. Just curious.

  7. Dolly Llama

I honestly don’t know who to pull for in the Bama/TAMU game, but I plan to watch it. Kind of pathetic that at this early point in the season that whatever happens in that game won’t mean shit for us in any scenario. It’s like somebody sprayed shit mist all over this offweek.

  8. AthensHomerDawg

    21-7 Kansas.

  9. The good thing about not playing this weekend is that we can’t lose.

  10. Lamar Jackson has a future in football. #hottake

  11. This staff should leave it’s bags packed if we can’t at least be competitive next weekend. Zero excuses to not be competitive.

  12. AusDawg85

If your interested in moving to Austin, I believe the Strong’s house is now on the market.

  13. KornDawg

Muschump trolling UGA again. Why doesn’t he just give back his diploma if he’s so goddamned ashamed of it?

  14. Timphd

You could start to believe that every call goes Bama’s way.

    • AusDawg85

If the refs and SEC office weren’t just so obvious about it maybe I could tolerate it better.

    • 92 grad

I wonder, there’s a tendency when people are making judgements of others more benefit of the doubt does come into play when the players are highly skilled. The better one performs, the less critical people are. I can see that a good team can get breaks. If there’s sloppiness in technique all over the place, one tends to think “this and that here and there, I can’t let it all go, I’ve got to call something”.

  15. Bright Idea

How does Al Ford remain as an SEC replay official?

  16. 92 grad

We’d have been called for a push off there.

  17. Vern mentioned during the CBS broadcast that Lee Corso is 81!! I had no idea. I hope he lives to be 100 and I hope Vern changes his mind and stays until he is 100 as well. I can’t think of anyone good enough to replace either of them.

  18. Scorpio Jones, III

    Jonathon Allen….driving, driving…

  19. Scorpio Jones, III

The officiating is all rigged…believe me. 😀

  20. Scorpio Jones, III

Its all rigged I tells ya…Sumerlin should not accept the outcome of the game until it is certified.

  21. Scorpio Jones, III

Ya know, I understand Derek’s attitude about Saban, I do, but god almighty, ya know, Bama has turned whippin the shit outa people into an art form.

    Is hope completely illogical?

  22. 69Dawg

Good thing we didn’t plat Middle Tenn.

  23. Minnesota Dawg

    First quarter observation re Vanderbilt:

Turns out that Vandy’s defense isn’t quite as good when the opposing offense decides NOT to run up-the-middle, towards their All American LB, every other play.

    • Macallanlover

He wasn’t an All American candidate until last Saturday.

      • Minnesota Dawg

        Good point….except not really.

Yeah, he was a real nobody before last Saturday. First team All SEC selection last year, 3rd team All American last year, preseason nominee for all major defensive awards this year. Vanderbilt’s best player by far. Not the guy you want to challenge repeatedly, either before and after he proved it again in Athens.

  24. Dolly Llama

Auburn is going to utterly destroy us.

  25. 79Dawg

No one’s mentioned Mizzou lost to Middle Tennessee and SCar barely scraped by UMass… p.s. Anyone know how Nicholls State did today???

  26. TXBaller

Can we bury Tom Herman and put his ass to sleep? Connecticut, Navy, SMU……yuk.

  27. Normaltown Mike

So Herman’s stock will be down this week…do we fire Kirby now so that we can get him for a bargain?

  28. Bulldog Joe

Half of Penn State’s team runs on the field without their helmets after the last sack.

  29. AusDawg85

Looks like McG got his money’s worth from the search firm after all. Herman, Shaw, and…Meyer! are all a sham. #overreaction

  30. TXBaller

Whitehouse, TX Patrick Mahomes….736 passing yards. Damn! Suck it Palatero Man!

  31. Spokesman for Coach for Life, Nick Saban, sir.

So, would it be fair to say Corch Dickhead got fondled in Happy Valley?
    TOSU got molested?

  32. stoopnagle

Don’t look now, but WVU is tear-assin’ through the Big XII.
