I agree. Wait until Florida to see.
Optimism before 2007 Florida game was not real high (anyone remember the pictures going around of Stafford and Knowshon partying with those 2 girls?) and we whooped up on them and caught fire.
Also, 2012 we had at least as bad of a loss as LSU and there was plenty of grumbling from fans until our one of our own players called out the defense for being soft.

my optimism before Florida 07 was about zero. We lucked our way past Vandy, if you recall, after gacking up a bad one to South Carolina. Honest to dawg, I wasn’t sure we could win a game the rest of the year. Turns out I am not much of a predictor. 18-22 year old kids can sometimes turn around 180 degrees in a second, next thing you know we are clubbing Colt Brennan like he was a baby seal. Guess that’s why we go ahead and play the games. Hope we get that kind of spark in Jacksonville.

I’m going to stick with football. Last game really opened my eyes. I am more upset with our coaching staff now than I have been since CMR left particularly on O. Yes there were some defensive breakdowns but you have to understand that players make mistakes and the other team has good players, too. No, I’m more concerned with bad coaching decisions that put the team behind the 8 ball early an what appeared to be the panic, particularly of our OC, when we got behind for the first time this season. Hard truth: Georgia was 6-0 going into the LSU game but who had we really beaten? 2cupcakes and the bottom teams in the SEC. First real game against a top caliber team look what happened. I hope this was just a bad game like the Senator and others are saying but based on how the team lost and the bad coaching decisions displayed during the game I’m afraid that what I saw last Saturday is the real 2018 Georgia Bulldogs.

I really thought Georgia missed opportunities to get Fields valuable reps against SC, Missouri, Vandy and Tennessee, especially from the pocket.
By this point in the season last year, Tua was 28-42 for 385 yards, 5 TDs and 1 pick.
Tua’s SEC stats by this point: 21-29, 321, 4 TDs, 1 pick, 9 rushes for 95 yards and 2 TDs. He would get 11 more pass attempts against Mercer. And then he showed up in the second half of the championship game.
Fields: 18-25, 200, 2 TDs, 0 picks. SEC stats: 5-9, 66 yards, 0, 0, 12 rushes for 72 yards, 3 TDs.
One huge potential problem for Kirby going forward: Fromm continues to struggle under pressure, but Fields doesn’t have any relevant game experience, making it difficult to bring him into tight situations.
The QB situation isn’t a cluster yet, but it’s 3 steps down that path, isn’t it?
LikeLiked by 1 person
I agree with getting Fields more reps. I fear the situation where Fromm struggles and then Fields comes in and lights it up, because then we really have a QB controversy on our hands. But that’s why Kirby gets all the millions he gets, to figure that out.
McElroy says Fields is a half step slow on his reads and maybe that’s true. But he sure could have figured that out against Sackerlina, Mizzou, and Vandy. Bringing him in for one play at a time to run essentially the Wild Dawg does no one any good.
LikeLike
Also, it seems odd Kirbs would coach scared considering he’s started a Fr at QB in a majority of the games he coached. Find a dozen plays Fields can run, rep him up and turn him loose. Fromm could probably handle being sat better than we think.
LikeLike
Perhaps Fields doesn’t have as good an understanding of the playbook as Fromm does, yet. And perhaps when down, and in obvious passing situations, having Fromm in opens up the playbook moreso than having Fields in.

Like I posted earlier the switch in QB coaches was not Kirby’s best idea. Fromm has apparently lost his ability to just throw the ball away before taking terrible sacks. He was more than willing last year. Chaney was able to take a freshman QB and get us the the Natty, the new QB coach has the freshman 5* incapable of running anything but the Wild Dawg. It’s time to get the QB coach thing straighten out. The only reason I can see for the switch was to keep Coley, a great recruiter happy.

Let me guess. Reading Atlas Shrugged changed your life? But of course anytime someone narcissist comes up with a new philosophy on government or lack thereof it usually works out great right? Of course none of those were thought up by a disillusioned soviet refugee, who was a sociopath, a bad writer, and a hypocrite; you are aware that she lived on SS and Medicare in her later years right? She was basically a less intelligent and more selfish Marx. And yes I know they were philosophically different but both were narcissistic refugees who were essentially failures at life and both had their ideas coopted by others for their own ends..because human nature.
For the record I don’t particularly care for either side or our government. But I am a student of history and outside of your Gandhis and MLKs most crackpots who think they have the solution to all problems don’t live in the real world. I read Atlas Shrugged. It wasn’t bad. Primarily, I’m just a Christian pragmatist. So I think initiating aggression against other people is bad. And even if it weren’t, it doesn’t really work to achieve the ends that the violent folks like Derek claim will be accomplished.
As you yourself admit, it makes no sense to equate the philosophies of Marx and Rand. They were very different. But other than those extreme differences, they were the same. Good point.
For what it’s worth, I don’t worship the market. I don’t claim that it doesn’t need adjustments from time to time. I just think that the adjustments should be accomplished voluntarily by people with skin in the game, rather than elites who believe that they’re smarter than everyone else put together, which gives them a moral excuse to step in and stop voluntary action.
So I will keep dreaming of a day when people can interact with each other voluntarily. Of a day when Big Brother doesn’t step in “for their own good” with the lame excuses of helping them out. You can keep dreaming of a day when government violence and coercion is all justified when you can collect a nice check from your benevolent overlords. Personally, I think even benefitting from immoral actions doesn’t make then moral.

That’s a whole lot of stupid right there.
So what did the left do with Castro at the time that they were killing people? I mean other than the embargo, ejecting the soviet missiles and saving the world from nuclear holocaust in the fall of 1962?
The only thing the left refused to do was a full scale invasion of the island. That idea, from the right, was necessitated by what and who?
Who was in office when Castro took over Cuba in 1959? Was it the left?
Who let Cuba get so bad that it’s people accepted a communist revolution? Who helped foster Batista? Was it the left?
The truth of the matter is that the US has had an uneven relationship with human rights and dictators since WWII. However, it would be difficult (stupid?) to argue that the left has coddled/emboldened/funded more murderous dictators or overlooked more human rights abuses than the left over that time.
The tension between the left and the right has been the degree to which popular leftist sentiment can be tolerated and/or to what degree it should be snuffed out. The right has consistently looked to strongmen to eliminate leftists threats while the left has suggested that hasn’t served our long term interests to coddle right wing dictators. What was agreed by both sides was that a world where these difficult choices had to me made was neither acceptable nor unavoidable. We just had to get rid of the USSR first before we could get too aggressive in the spread of liberal democracy that respects human rights.
What’s new is that the suggestion that our values, often poorly applied on both sides, no longer matter to the country at all.
In short, this isn’t a right/left debate. They’ve always agreed on the generalities if not the specifics. Its a USA vs. Trump debate.
There is simply no historical example on either side of an American leader saying “so what?” when it comes to human rights abuses.
We have that now. Congrats.

I like advanced stats because it takes out emotions from the analytics. Emotionally the Dawgnation is in panic/despair/frustration mode and that leads to knee jerk catastrophizing. It is a game where metrics matter, and the ebb and flow of the game has great affect despite what the numbers suggested outside of the 60 minutes. There were places on Saturday where we looked as the metrics suggested. We knew we were bend but not break on defense. The problem with that is that sometimes , when pushed, the bending/keep everything in front of you switches to be more aggressive when down and that results in breaking. One player failing to set the edge, another missing gap control, another overrunning the play, bad angles…all those things can still happen regardless of advanced stats. All things considered, those are plays that result in back breaking results. There is not a metric for boneheaded decision making, and the fake kick deflated the entire half. There was hope through the third quarter, and even into the fourth. A bad first half killed us then we gambled a few plays late and big plays ensued. Take away a few bad angles and plays and it could be a different outcome. I dont see leadership and momentum as metrics, but those two things stood out to me on Saturday. Given the emotionality of youth those two factors loomed large on us in BR and that negated a lot of the advanced stats. If the game flow isn’t compromised by those things, I still feel.confident we would have handled LSU easily.

General view is that Fromm had the worst game of his short career in SEC play.
But was it not also the worst damn play calling and use of offensive players by the pass happy crappy Chaney.
Forget Fields. What does “expand” the role of Fields in the over and done game. Means as much as Brewers manager Council wanting to expand the zone on Bellinger when all he needed to do was shift his second baseman over and deeper. “Expand” is a no meaning freaking word, and we are damn tired of sports people using it!
I have posted that the Gators actually have the best RBs in SEC East.
But on Saturday was probably the best running that Swift and Holyfield did all season. Holyfield had a Walker /Bill Bates moment, he pan caked 22.
Chaney when you have that much depth and resources on offense feed your running game dummy!. Swift may have been slowed somewhat due to injury, but he could play. Same with Herron.
Chaney dumb ass fake field goal took an automatic 3 points of the board.
Here is the math boy. 3 is just under 50% of seven, coupled with that 2 point try so early in the game.
Work on that blocking and getting the gaps open this week for you running back and rotation on your oline.
Pound, pound, pound the dline and the rock.
Punting is mind and technique. Get your metro Atlanta punter enrolled in kicking, or go find a punter in your recruiting class because this dude is very unproductive!
Stop wasting your FG kicker re points, and start that running game going!
Stop all this “expand” the role of your QBs…neither of which or your receivers are even 2nd round draft picks or ranked high in the SEC.

Will Jeremy Pruitt and all those Bama coaches on his Vol staff leave after one year and go back to Bama, the state, and start running the Auburn team.
Gus is gone, too.
Who will the Braves hire as a new pitching coach.
Coach who do not perform should move on.
Will Smart look for a new OC after this year.
Keep it up Chaney and you may rotate out, too.

Smart now says he wants to see Swift and Holyfield get more carries. So we’re really doing this now and damn does it feel familiar. It’s getting harder not to wonder what his involvement in the offense is.
What’s really discouraging is that this had been our offense ALL year and Kirby still parrots the physicality and impose our will motivational quotes. It would be one thing if we weren’t capable or hadn’t shown flashes of it all freaking season. Is he the HC still trying to be a DC? It’s getting difficult to argue that he isn’t.
LikeLike
I don’t see how anyone can say he isn’t the DC. When the defense huddles, it sure isn’t Tucker in the middle of the scrum yelling at/coaching up the players.
Although, I do like it when Kirby lights into the headset when the team is on offense. He’s reaming someone out. He didn’t do enough of it on Saturday, though.
LikeLike
Hell..the most predictable thing in the world is that a coach will over react and overplay his hand by trying to play the next game the way he didn’t play the last loss.
Kirby should talk less. There’s no reason to talk about your next game plan in public.
Florida will be schemed and hot to stop HF and Swift.
I’d personally be using the hell out of Fields. Line him up on the edge, playfake to tailback and pitch it to him coming around on a rpo sweep. Next play he goes shotgun with QB draw..next play he gets under center with Fromm and Swift behind him..stands up and hits TE over middle. Or he fakes dive and does a little counter…Just ideas..but when you have Fields on the field..anywhere…it screws with the defense’s minds and ups the chances of them making a big mistake.
LikeLike
I tend to agree. I love Kirby but I’ve really never liked listening to ANY head coach after a bad loss. Especially one who really hates having to deal with the press like Kirby or Saban. Nothing but coachspeak and “in the arena” or “couch QB” talk. And more “we’re just going to keep on working hard” crap.
You mentioned the QB draw: I had been thinking a couple of weeks ago that it’s a play you don’t really see that much anymore. I have Clemson friends and remember seeing Woody Dantzler and a lot of mobile guys running it back then. Can a better football mind than mine explain if it has just gone out of fashion or something else?

It’s not so much a game as it is an effort to make the point that Georgia doesn’t really exceed expectations, at least not on a game by game basis. I don’t think many people expected us to make the playoff last season, but if you go back and look at each game we played none of our victories were real shockers.

I’ll somewhat agree with you, but I think that’s because Richt and Kirby have raised the overall perception of Georgia football. Vince used to win 1 or 2 games that he wasn’t supposed to win because he was a conservative coach and made good halftime adjustments. But it was also because Georgia wasn’t flashy and people would say we “shouldn’t win that game”.
To your list, I’d add 2006 Auburn game and 2016 Auburn game. Both games we shouldn’t have won, but did. In the 2006 case, resoundingly.

Easy there. Trump and Foxnews haven’t weighed in on those issues yet so his acolytes are unsure but thinking it’s better to be safe than sorry so they’re leaning towards Fake News. I mean look at the websites. They lack the Trump approval certificate..can see it’s missing right on the browser.
Lol. I just realized how to make my fortune if someone hasn’t already done it. Develop a browser addon that automatically filters out all non Trump approved content and has a big picture of the Prez giving the thumbs up on any Fox, Breitbart, Hannity, or alt right looney affiliated websites. Then I could add a paid patch that includes a big word translator and video instruction on how to properly plug up ones ears and whistle when confronted in the real world by Trump’s daily idiocy, lies, and hypocrisy. Hell. I could even add a feature to automatically correct words to their proper use and spelling. No more having to read big or huge when those pesky words can automatically be turned into the real words of biggly and yugely.
I need to flesh this out but I will definitely get the very best people to work on it since everyone really likes and respects me. Maybe I should add an application for the Space Force too? Space is really big after all. Only stands to reason that aliens would love Trump and want to make deals with him.

You’re going to need an invert to convert the 12 VOLT to 110V to power the TV to start. And a way to get a signal to the TV, antenna, smart phone, cable line, dish, etc……..that’s a start.

I was thinking about just getting an HD antenna of they work well

I would buy a decent HD Yagi antenna and mount it on magnet or piece of plywood or something similar so you can stick it on your hood or roof of your vehicle. They run about $50 at Wal-Mart for the RCA brand. I use one for my TV at home, and it works great. The small powered ones that are made to hide behind your TV are ok, but not as good as the yagi, which you don’t need to power with a booster. There are websites that you can input the zip code of where you are at and it will show what direction to point the antenna at for the station you want – important since a yagi is very directional.

I’m curious. I’ve been slowly cutting the cord by having all smart TVs but games can still be a bitch sometimes, particularly the CBS ones. I don’t want to have to get up on my roof and have seen HD antennas that claim to be able to get a signal indoors. Does anyone know if they actually work? I haven’t really kept up with antennas and such over the years.

In my experience, indoor HD antenna’s don’t work well. I have tried a few and even though I live close to the signal, I experienced very intermittent signal reception – great one day, gone the next.I don’t think the signal travels well through walls. I now have an exterior Yagi and it works fine. I very rarely have any issues.

Yeah. That’s kinda what I figured. Can’t believe anything you read on a box these days. Seemed too good to be true since they weren’t that expensive. Thanks.

To be clear, I have an indoor antenna that is near a window that runs to a small TV in my kitchen, and it works OK. I normally have signal. When I have tried it and other antennas on my living room TV, which is blocked from a clear shot, they don’t work on some days, and some days they work great. Too hit and miss.

How long do you want you setup to operate at at time? What is the power draw (i.e. watts) of the TV you want to run? What else would you like to power at your tailgate? What is your home set up like for if the power goes out? What is your upper level budget?

Power the tv for 4-5 hours. It’s an older flat screen 37” I am not sure of the specs… don’t really need anything else to power up at tailgate .This would be for smaller get togethers.
If the power goes out at home, I have no plan.
I’d def like to keep it under $500.

I just tested an older 42″ I have in my bedroom and it draws ~180W. You can use a simple $20 device like this to check power usage of your appliances. https://www.amazon.com/P3-P4400-Electricity-Usage-Monitor/dp/B00009MDBU/
At 180W, 5 hours would draw 75 amp hours from battery (plus conversion loss). So any battery (or 2 or more batteries in parallel) with 75 amp-hours of capacity should work, but batteries that are drawn down to 50% capacity will have a life space twice that of those drawn down to 20%. You can get a 100AH battery and a 350W inverter for about $200 total. Using a TV that draws even lower power levels would allow you to use a smaller / cheaper battery.
Now would be a good time to develop a plan for a loss of power at home. You will want to at least be able to run your refrigerator / freezer a few times per day, charge phones / tablets, etc. If you get the $20 kill-a-watt above, you can measure the power draw of the devices you want to use. You can then get a suitably sized battery, charge controller, inverter, and solar panel that could meet your emergency home power needs.
While I would recommend a generator and a bottle of fuel stabilizer for you home, for a little under $500 you could get a 100AH battery:
Foldable 100W solar panel w/ 10A charge controller
A 1500W inverter
and the kill-a-watt above. Those items could run a tailgate all day or get you through a several day long power outage at home.
The cheap way out for the Florida game while camping is to get a $30 300W inverter
and a <$30 flat TV antenna like any of the Mohu Leaf knockoffs
Plug the inverter into the car (make sure it is line with a 30A fuse or get an inverter than attaches to the battery), bring and extension chord, and let the engine idle while you watch the game.

A laptop on a large battery powering a 32″ monitor could probably last 3-4 hours.
