Jesse Palmer has instincts.

You will be shocked, shocked to learn that Former Gator Favors The Gators Saturday.

How does he know the level of each team’s confidence?  Dunno.  Maybe he’s connected with them on the astral plane.

Me, I’ll look at something more concrete.  Like this.

Georgia is a more than solid team coming off a crappy game.  I’m probably more confident the Dawgs won’t repeat that effort in Jacksonville.

I need some of your confidence, Senator.

Dang, I want this to be a coming out party for these Dawgs!

    I hate Gators!!

Palmer is expressing JimfromDuluth syndrome. There are a bunch of GetthePicture posters shitting in their pants in fear at this moment, but I guarantee none of them will suit up Saturday.

Fromm and Godwin and Thomas and Walker and the rest aren’t hanging out with middle aged Internet fans this week, so I see no need to project fans’ trepidation upon them.

  3. And I would argue we were the more confident team going into Baton Rouge, how did that work out?

I’m not so sure that’s accurate.
LSU looked pretty confident to me.
      Georgia looked shaky.
But that was going into Death Valley after all the hype…This game is in Jax, where the Dawgs play every year..I think they’ll be settled down.

Don’t forget the advanced stats. Somebody forgot to tell LSU about our advanced stats.

That’s funny. Is there an advanced stats monitor that will be updated to the minute that we can follow during the UF game?

I don’t deny there is more pep in their step this year than they had going into last year’s game. The problem for them, there is more anger, back against the wall, focus for UGA. Better players, motivated and focused, will prevail. If not, this team never really had it at all, and we all misjudged them. Dawgs roll.

Why would anyone pick Dawgs this weekend? The Dawgs have yet to play a complete game. We were just shutdown two weeks ago by a good but not great LSU squad. We lack experience all over the field on defense, and even lack talent in a few positions. We have an OL that is weak in pass protection. We have a QB that is closer to struggling than thriving. We have WR’s that are unable to be man coverage. But hey, we have advanced stats going for us!

Being right about losing on Wednesday, instead of wrong about winning on Saturday means you’re a “true””fan.” Thankfully, Kirbs and the players hate fans.

Nope, no shtick here. Just how I view this squad. The glaring holes on this team far outshine any positives. This team appears to be stuck in 2nd gear and has been since game #1. We putter around for a few quarters, find 5th gear for one quarter, light it up and then downshift. Honestly, this season has not been overly enjoyable as a Dawg fan, especially compared to last season. Who knows…maybe I am the only one who feels that way. No one expected this team to be in the playoffs again this year given the number of personnel losses, but I sure expected a more consistent showing, primarily from the offense. Add in the fact that our defense played well enough to win in Baton Rogue, only to be let down by the offense, and you have a worrisome mix.

SD, we’ve played poorly relative to our talent and I don’t see that changing this week. But I will take being wrong all day long and listen to the ‘true’ fans gloat until the cows come home if we whip some Gator ass this weekend. Heck, I would even read about advanced stats again. Lol. I would venture to say you would agree with me on some of that.

I guess you can look at the glass 1/2 full or 1/2 empty. Despite not playing a complete game, they dominated their first 6. Go back and look at the tape and you’ll see that the LSU game came down to execution. The plays were there, Fromm missed them. A big play here or there and the game goes a different direction. That’s what happens when both teams are close to equal in talent. It comes down to execution and mind set. This team didn’t think it could get beat. It got beat. Now, you can take that they now know they are not good enough or you can take it that they now know they have to go out and play on every down. This team plays up to it’s potential, they’ll win out.

I have faith in the players and the coaching staff to get the team where it needs to be.

Call it Pavlovian conditioning through several years of bed shitting in this game but I’m glass 1/2 empty and the other 1/2 is poisoned. All the comparisons to last year how we rebounded after the Auburn loss are fair but I’m stuck reliving 2003 in my head. I so don’t want that scenario.

Some of us just are afraid to get our hopes up or just want to prepare for the inevitable misery of a loss. We paint pictures of storm clouds and earthquakes to warn others of treacherous times ahead.

Why be a fan if you must subject yourself to such misery? Because after I write my post on the inadequacies of our football program I’m going to put on my UGA hat and wonder how sad it must be to not be a Dawg. Because I love putting everything I got into yelling at the tv for 4 quarters with other fans. Because when my dad told me Texas was favored in the ’84 Cotton Bowl I knew it was a fluke (talk about schadenfreude, Texas). Because I decided to stick it out for the 2nd half of the ’96 game vs. Auburn (and was just a few feet away from Uga V posterizing Baker the license plate maker). Because of the Rose Bowl (only bummer about this is how hard it will be for me to top that experience)!

What was I saying? Oh yeah, gator tail is on the menu for Saturday and Tyler Simmons was onside! Go Dawgs!

How many dominating games has our opponent played? Don’t say UT, since UT gave it 6 turnovers. Jeez, you act as if we are playing the Kansas City Chefs instead of another flawed team.

I was watching this when Palmer was on. All those year of dominating the series still jades these guys. The last 8 years have been a split, with their precious Gators being blown off the field last year, and they act like it’s 2008, not 2018. We win this game… Book it.

I honestly do not understand where fans are getting their insights into the UGA players’ emotional states. I get that some internet fans are scared; no debate there. You insist that Florida’s players are more confident than our players and I just wondered if there is evidence for it or if it is just you projecting your emotions. Not a “game.”

I guess you answered my question.

My two biggest questions going into the season were: (1) Will the offensive line be as other worldly as the talent and coaching suggests it should be? and (2) How will the defense handle the loss of Roquan, Carter, Bellamy, and Atkins? If the answer to (1) is “yes,” and if the answer to (2) is even just “okay,” we should cruise to Atlanta, and maybe also into the playoffs.

And like most people, I was waiting to see how we played against good-to-great opponents before jumping to any conclusions. I thought South Carolina would be a good indicator, but as it turns out, the Gamecocks aren’t anywhere close to being as good as people thought they’d be. As far as I can tell, LSU is the first and only legitimate opponent we’ve faced so far this season. And while I still haven’t settled on answers to my two questions, the LSU game certainly has me more worried than I was before.

I really don’t care what the stats say at this point. There aren’t yet enough grounds, in my opinion, to rule out the possibility that we’re a bit of a paper tiger. I do think we’re good enough to beat Kentucky and Auburn. But to be honest, there isn’t an outcome Saturday that would surprise me right now. It won’t surprise me if we blow them out of the water like last year. But it also won’t surprise me if we get our asses kicked badly.

I’m generally the same. This seems to be a weird season where our stats don’t have a whole lot of validity. All the games we’ve seen so far we’re pretty easily won and cleared the benches early, except LSU. Certainly feels like a paper tiger to me. It’s been an odd schedule where everyone we’ve played turns out to be overrated. On the other hand, this team will be a monster one of these weeks. All the media blowhards lean Georgia based on hard data that hasn’t been validated yet, and some blowhards are just being contrarian and putting stock in intangibles Luke heart, confidence, momentum.

I keep seeing references to South Carolina and how they turned out to be less than expected – well maybe we took the wind out of their sail. They marked our game as the tip of their new spear – we stuck that spear in their heart and killed them.

I’m sorry but there is no reason to NOT believe that Florida is the more confident team. They beat the same team that just curb-stomped UGA.

We’ve basically “out-talent-ed” the first six opponents while at the same time being very inconsistent on offense and soft against the run on defense. LSU exposed both weaknesses and I’m not confident that a week off is enough to fix those issues.

Bejeebus but some of you have a very short term/long term problem. Did we not kick these Gator’s behinds last year? We are better than we played at LSU, but we are young. I’m pretty sure Kirby made good use of the off weekend to make sure we have a runaway victory this weekend. For fuck’s sake, our talent alone will crush them!

I have not watched a football game in over a week.
I did watch the first half of game with LSU on re-broadcast.
My instincts are telling me that Fields and Swift are going to have a huge game.
As for confidence who knows. Certainly not a PF. Even coaches and coaching staff can and do misjudge how their team will perform in a game.
When you are the “hunted” you can take no prisoners. The Dawgs have been a hunted team all year. They get everybody’s best shot.
What I do know is that LSU can have all the confidence they want because Bama and Texas A&M are going to beat them.
In my view both of them have the two best and most dangerous QBs in the conference.
I expect to see Fields spin some deep balls.
