“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
Good for him. He fills a need too.

Non-sarcastic question. Obviously Georgia and Athens are infinitely better than UT/Knoxville. However, red and black blinders aside, why is he transferring? From reading about him, best I can figure is he wants to be used as a pass catcher more and is unhappy with only being a blocker at UT? He was a walk on at Tennessee. Not knowing much about him, it’s doubtful he’s a pro prospect. If you played for the same team your college career wouldn’t you want to finish there? It seems odd to leave unless you’re angling for the NFL.

You raise good points and I obviously have no idea why the kid is transferring. However, playing on a winning team, new experience, wants to angle for an NFL gig, wants to get into coaching, who knows? Nice to get one more TE, though.

It’s particularly odd given Chaney’s arrival. We all know how he likes to make use of tight ends in his offense.

Funny you should say that. Per this article Chaney likes pass catching tight ends so this kid is no loss.

It could also be a case of not wanting to play for “mushmouth” Pruitt. Plus, UGA is in a place where UT won’t be for many years.

I’m biased, but also an out of stater myself: never under-estimate the allure of spending time in the greatest college town in America. Many kids at other SEC schools have Georgia at the top of their woulda-coulda-shoulda-wisha list. Particularly if they’ve ever been to town. Dead serious.

I think it has to do with wanting an SEC or National Championship ring.
UTk’s chilling is likely 9 wins next year, UGA’s floor is likely 9 wins next year.

I continue to be amazed (and very pleased) by Kirby and his staff’s ability to address specific needs. From kickers and punters a couple of years ago to QB depth in December to WR and TE the last couple of days. And there are multiple other examples.

I love the Dawgs but I find it baffling that we continue to attract tight ends. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Can we name him the lone captain when we go to Knoxville?

The most under utilized player on the entire team is Charlie Woerner. Just about every pass he catches is behind him, on his shoetops, etc, etc. and he still makes great yardage. He could be the best receiver on the team if they would only throw to him and he also has good speed. Every year Chaneys mantra was, “we are going to get the tight ends more involved in the passing game” Right and he was also giving up donuts for his obese ass. Damn, I’m glad to see him gone. Kirby moved him upstairs so he could be closer to the donuts and would free up some space on the sidelines!!!!
