Best NCAA violation ever

A D-III football team has been forced to vacate its 2016 national title by the NCAA because its head coach gave a player an impermissible benefit, free use of a limousine access to a Mercedes a new pickup truck to drive a used Subaru a ten-year old Subaru that broke down.

  1. To me that is just stupid of the NCAA. I could understand if it was from a booster at a P5 conference letting a player borrow his Hummer or Ferrari. But to punish a division III coach for helping out a player is absurd.

    I can recall UGA getting a violation because a coach gave a player money for gas so he could go to a relatives funeral. Might have been when Goff was coach, I’m not sure, but it was the stupidest thing I had ever heard of at the time.

    Abolish the NCAA. It literally serves no purpose other than to keep money out of the hands of student-athletes (and to make asinine decisions like this one).
