Leaving in the next half hour — nooners are a bitch, man — so I’ll make this brief.
The statistics strongly suggest this shouldn’t be any closer than the Tennessee game was. But between the early start and Kirby’s affinity for Boom, I have the feeling that Georgia’s gonna come up just short of covering the 24.5-point spread. Call it something like 34-10, 38-14 or 40-17.
Though it would be nice if this were the game when this team finally came out early and played like they were shot out of a cannon.
Yeah, I’ve been saving that line for three days.
Have at it in the comments.
It’s pretty over here this morning!

The talent gap has gotten wider over the last 3 years. The gap at the most important position on the field is a gulf (not because the kid in Columbia can’t play – he’s just young).
I like the Dawgs to cover 21.5 – 38-10.

Kirbs needs to put his friendship with Boom on hold during game time and let the Dawgs run up the score because the selection committee is going to judge that shit. This seems to be the year of run up the damn score with a lot of 5-0 teams and if we don’t keep doing that, we will be penalized for it in the end. Don’t let your personal feelings get in the way, Kirby! GO DAWGS!

Concur with all. Probably many reasons that I don’t understand for the slow starts. Many of us have postulated the reasons over the past few weeks. I think we all wanna see the “Devil May Care” strategy from kickoff and just let the Dawgs play the way we know they can play. But Kirby knows football better than we do and he’s 5-0 and using the 1st quarter to see what looks they give us and then making adjustments has worked so far. That strategy could be questionable against some of the teams in the latter part of our schedule.
LikeLike
” That strategy could be questionable against some of the teams in the latter part of our schedule.” …”using the 1st quarter to see what looks they give us and then making adjustments …”
Judging by Kirby’s comments, I believe He and his staff go into the game with a plan based on watching film of previous games…but, as with any coaching staff worth their weight, the opposition does the same and adds new wrinkles to their scheme. Each coaching staff then has to make adjustments depending on the pre-game adjustments of the opposing coaches. (the added wrinkles)
Georgia, playing at the level they are, has brought out the best efforts by opposing coaches, to throw as much as they can at the Dawgs to help their chances. Rival coaches may not make as many adjustments if they are better than the team they play. Basically, UGA is getting everyone’s best shot.
I like that we pre-game ‘plan’ based on what we know about the other team and then we have the ability to modify that plan in a reasonable amount of time (before the half time break) after play has began.
It drives me crazy if an opponent continues to run the same successful play against us and we don’t adjust for it.
I’m sure on D we have a plan to stop what we know about the cocks…as for our O…I’m sure we just plan to impose our will. The only adjustments will be, which ‘will’, we plan to impose, passing or running.
As for Kirby’s friendship with Boom, I think if Kirby calls off the Dawgs at all, it will be after the game is well in hand.

Agree, ND never quit throwing to the TE and we never did make an adjustment, either before the half or after the half. Walker said GA never made any adjustment against Texas and it showed.

All this talk about the KS-WM friendship makes me think people must have forgotten this game last year. Didn’t we beat the living hell out of them at their place? Wasn’t the score 41-10 before the end of the third quarter? Weren’t they thoroughly embarrassed after expecting to be competitive?

I don’t like cannon fire early in the day any more than I like noon football for UGA. We should cover this number but the early start, our overly conservative nature, and the way SC players always act like this is their playoff game, makes it too risky to put money on the game.
Would love to see some explosiveness on offense, especially downfield passing, but think this might look like the last couple of games we played against them, solid wins but very little excitement. Plenty of fireworks on display in other games today. Unfortunately, those receiving recruits we are seeking can watch those high flying offenses as well, along with the TE prospects!

Assuming Hilinski’s arm is healthy, I think they’ll show up early and probably play the first quarter well enough to notch a moral victory. The Great Wall of GA will be too heavy in the second half though.

I could see the Dawgs tcob and cover, but this may also be that letdown game that goes to the 4th quarter and is decided by less than 2 scores. Most football teams have them, and thankfully we now have a significant enough talent/depth gap to win the headscratchers. Just win, baby.

Maybe this is a comment to save for a different thread, but this team has major flaws, if it hasn’t been obvious to everyone already. The lack of physical skill and/or spacing ability by the WRs means we can’t throw deep, ever. The lack of actual havoc by the defense means we’re not likely to get a lot of points off turnovers just from getting the ball on the other team’s side of the field. Add in that we no discernible kick return game, and the problem for the offense is that they have to nickel-and-dime their way down the whole field every single time. And they’re not good enough to do it consistently because they have no explosive plays.

Every pass he threw wasn’t off. Yes, more than normal, but some of what may have looked like Fromm’s poor pass are on the WRs. For example, at least two of the passes down the sideline to Pickens would have been caught by a receiver more prepared to body the corner off of him. Pickens can catch, we know, but we see how much that matters when he has to basically be uncovered to get to the ball because he doesn’t know how to create space yet. And there was an intentionally underthrown ball to Robertson at the goal line at the end where Robertson just didn’t get turned around well enough to make the play on it. The ball was where it should be.
Not saying Fromm wasn’t missing some throws here and there– he was–but he is working with a weak group of receivers, and with Cager out that becomes even more noticeable.

I’ll go to my grave believing we were intentionally robbed against Alabama in 2017 and 2018. The officials beat us again today.
Simmons streaking deep? No defensive holding
Anderson blocked into hilinski? Roughing the passer
PI on DRob at the end? Flag stays in the pocket
Wolf was held up on the 4th and 6 so I’m glad we caught that break but Carolina was living off the pick 6 and the long TD pass which I believe came on the drive where we stopped them on 3rd down and of course here came the flag on JR to keep them on the field. I wholeheartedly believe that if that crew had cost Alabama a game like this they would be out of a job before the teams hit the locker rooms. Isn’t Steve Shaw a Bama grad? We’ve had them on the ropes 2 years in a row and they’ve been bailed out by missed face masks, missed false starts on game tying TDS, phantom offside penalties and Mack Wilson slamming Fromms head in the ground. Did we deserve to win? We got whipped up front all day by a team that was well prepared and playing with their hair on fire but how many times have we seen the teams from the west get saved in games like this by ticky tack stuff?
