Seriously. We’re seriously due for some. I don’t think we’ll hear about any OC changes until after signing day but I’d love everyone on the offensive side besides McGee to be gone.

We got a glimpse of some of the packages Cook may be used in next year at the Championship game. I’m hopeful staff has figured out that needs the ball in space and isn’t necessarily a between the tackles runner though.

I am most shocked by this. I was certain he was going to dip after we have totally under-utilized him for the past 2 seasons. I mean, yeah, he sucks up the gut just like Carlton Thomas sucked up the gut, but maybe a shifty-speedy guy could do something outside…nah..they’ll never suspect it up the gut.

The no. 1 rb spot is definitely open. Why leave?

Really expected him to play a much bigger role on Saturday, and that was before we found out how limited Swift would be. No excuse for Coley missing that opportunity. Love Cook’s attitude, he was an under utilized change of pace….shame on Coly.

His brother in my opinion was one of the best running backs at FSU.
    Think not, ask the Gators.
Dawgs have the RBs, and now you have to spread the touches during games and a season.
Can not give any back 25 carries a game and expect them to get thru a long schedule not beat down.
McIntosh is a big sleeper. I think he has what it takes.

I don;’t know, it seemed like Zeus ran harder the more carries he got. Of course it could have just been because it was always in the 3rd and 4th Qtr. Truth is we really don;’t know what we have in the reserves because the O sucked so much we never got to even use them. Hard to play anyone when 2/3-3/4 of your drives are 3 and outs.

About 25 plus carries, see J.K. Dobbins.

Unless there are wholesale changes, he’ll be underutilized like Swift. Swift will be used like Kamara and the way Edwards-helaire is used. It’s not in Kirbys or Coleys DNA to try to put these guys in space. Swift isn’t the best between the tackles guy either but he’s damn near impossible to get down when he’s at full speed in space. Hope I’m wrong.

I thought it was interesting that Kirby singled out James Cook on TV in the SEC pregame sideline interview as a player of need.

  11. Great news! I love Cook, and he’s a hell of a better player than Carlton Thomas.

If we aren’t doing some Kamara type of things with him next year (or in the bowl game), shame on Coley and McGee.

  12. I’m not surprised because he isn’t getting drafted. I am surprised because Kirby “the players have got to make plays” Smart isn’t getting rid of Coley and Coley had James Cook run a dive play just to get crushed in the aTm game. Cook is kinda stuck now and I feel for him. Hopefully, he’ll get a little bigger so he can run off Trey Hill’s ass next year.

Realize he’s a Percy Harvin (lite) hybrid type and scheme accordingly. Accept that and he can do big things for us. Keep square peg round holing the guy and it’ll be more of the same. If he can’t catch… then I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news but they guy serves no purpose so quit the BS and move on. Either way he IS NOT a pure RB that can work in this O. At all. If he can’t catch, fine. If he can then it’s your fault if he doesn’t put up 750+ all purpose yards and scare the shit out of other coaches.

      This.

When you watch Cook play, it’s exciting to think of him being used in short yardage.

The only drawback is we don’t have a Nick Chubb-type fullback to lead him around the edge.

I know that when he hits the smallest space he looks like a rice rocket motorcycle coming out of a curve.
Cook is fast. Use him accordingly.

I’m sure the galaxy-brains on our coaching staff will find only the most effective ways to utilize his unique skills. I’m sure of it.

Glad to hear it. I hope he has a great bowl game and season next year. Cook, White, and McIntosh should be a great stable of backs to make a playoff run.
