Wonder who this dude is pulling for…
Bill Connelly has as in-depth a game preview as you’ll likely need right here. Bill sees Clemson covering the 5.5-point spread, a call I happen to agree with. Other than favoring whatever outcome would make for a less obnoxious version of Dabo Swinney, I don’t have a dog in this hunt. I just want to be entertained.
How ’bout you guys?
I really don’t care who wins tonight. I may or may not watch the game. I hope little ole Clempson loses but not enough to be happy if LSU wins. I’m just ready for the 2019 season to be officially over.

They could make it even more interesting by raising the stakes. For example, the loser can no longer refer to their stadium as Death Valley or the loser must relinquish the Tiger nickname. Otherwise, I’m hoping LSU wins and shuts up Dabo.

Hahaha, a friend of mine suggested the same thing a couple of days ago! Like an NCAA version of a “loser leaves town” match.

LSU 42-27. Orgeron has a really confident bunch, and they will be ready to play. Clemson had lots of luck/help beating Ohio State. They aren’t getting help in New Orleans.

Yep, LSU is charmed this season, plus they have lots of talent and are playing at home. I see LSU winning by two TDs. And I’m pulling for boys from Red Stick. I’m more than sick of Dabo.

No one has stopped those Manziel type throws where he scrambles around for 5 seconds and throws a 40 yard reception. Stop that crap and Clemson covers.

I hope the dude in that video is only doing that because he lost some kind of bet.
I hope LSU wins, partially because I want to see Dabo pout but also because I get tired of all the coaches whining about transfers. Although most of those gripes aren’t targeted at grad transfers like Burrow, I think it would undermine their argument a bit to see a transfer QB win it all.
I’ll be surprised if I’m still watching after halftime though. Not that I think it will be a blowout either way, I just don’t know if I can stay up that late watching a game between two teams I don’t really care about. I can always catch the highlights tomorrow.

Our years were 2012 and 2017 and we couldn’t get it done. We also got shafted by ESPN’s talking heads in 2007 with a concerted propaganda campaign to keep Georgia out of the BCSNCG the like I have never seen directed at ANY team before or since.

Yeah, it’s not like we haven’t been close… Just no cigar. I’m happy with where we are and we’ll get over the top one day maybe. Like the Cubs. I just hope it’s in my lifetime. But I really don’t care to stay up and watch another team win it.
I still think not spiking it was the right call in 2012 btw. 😉

Yeah, it was just a heck of a play by the Bama lb. If Simmons or Landers was in for that play instead of Conley, Murray could have had a chance at another play because they most likely would’ve dropped the ball.

I really like Coach O and think it is justice that he’s here after the way he was shifted by SC. When I hear these clowns on 960 making fun of his Acadian speech it infuriates me. Not one iota of sense about what that it and the rich traditions of that culture or any other for that matter.

I generally don’t care for rival coaches. But I like Ed O. He reminds me of the Men that raised me in football, hunting and hard damn work. He stepped on his crank and lost most everything. Learned from his mistakes, paid his penance and is finally reaping the rewards for his persistence in spite of those who ridicule his accent and mannerisms.
Saying all that, piss on LSU and fuck those clemson cunts.

Clemson seems to be borrowing Gus’s lucky rabbit foot lately.
I think it comes down to the officiating. How physical will they let Clemson’s DBs be? And in a game of two roughly equivalent teams, who gets the boost of the bad calls?
Who got the nod for the assignment? B12 or P12? Can’t imagine they would go B1G again after their shit show in 2017.
I am debating either watching with the sound off or going to the gym.
LikeLike
I agree about the officiating likely dictating the winner ASEF. I’ll hold my nose and watch with the sound on because I want to hear what the broadcasters say in their efforts to affect the outcome of the game by influencing the TV ref to stop the game for reviews and targeting calls: “That was clear targeting Kirk—I can’t believe the refs didn’t flag that! Wait…the booth has just notified the on-field referee that they are reviewing this obvious missed targeting call. Gee, that was their best defender who just got ejected. And the offense gets a fresh set of downs when they were jus about to have to punt, plus now they are across midfield and are almost in field goal range!”
LikeLike
I dislike the way the targeting rule is written and interpreted in CFB as much as anyone, but if they don’t call that play targeting, you might as well throw the rule out because you are not serious about it. Nothing controversial about it, except from the irrational fans of the school who was penalized. Many fans believe their team has never violated a rule, and there is a rule violation by their opponents on every single play.
I don’t buy the conspiracy theories on refs, accept there will be missed calls in all games, and in 60 years of watching UGA football can only point to 3 penalties against Georgia that were blatantly missed by officials and directly changed the outcome of the game. Arguing bang/bang PI calls and OL holding is simply impossible and not worth the time, imo.

We caught magic in a bottle in 2017. The problem was we didn’t keep the hammer down, had a couple of bounces go the wrong way, got screwed by the 2nd half officiating, and then blew a coverage at the worst time.

I admit to being totally puzzled by the “don’t know if I will watch”, or “I don’t care” comments above. It seems bi-polar to spend as much time staying up with CFB as so many do here, and then (pretending?) to shrug your shoulders at the title game, and between what looks to be a really intriguing match up. It makes so little sense to me that I wonder if it is sincere or just a mask for people’s disappointment for UGA to not be there. Not challenging anyone specifically but it just falls outside my “logic arena”, ans so many are jumping on that platform. (Sure, I know some UGA fans that only watch games where UGA is involved, but I don’t consider them CFB fans, just Georgia fans.)
My money is on LSU tonight, think they win, and cover, maybe 10-14 points. My thinking is a score similar to Jared’s above. I really respect Venable’s defenses, and credit him for raising Clemson up that one last notch from where they were, but I honestly don’t know how you stop all the ways LSU can come at you. Perhaps they don’t execute tonight, but they have all 14 games so far, it seems they don’t take nights off. Really looking forward to seeing these two teams go at it. I not only will watch the game, I will stay up for the interviews, postmortem from the talking heads, and the message board commentary. I admit it, I love CFB and look forward to every big game played. Geaux Tigahs!!

Just I have always envied Type B folks’ ability to take many things casually that really flip my switch, I really wish I had that outlook on CFB. I would be a better husband and father and not insist all my Saturdays in the fall be reserved for CFB regardless of what else is proposed by others. (Admittedly, this is for the past 20 years only.) I watch from 9-10 in the morning, and don’t stop until about 1-3 the next morning. As a huge Dawg fan, I specifically point to those games as the priority, but this schedule is the same, even of UGA is off that week. Of course, that applies to every big bowls, playoff games, and many Thursday and Friday night games.
I do feel this will subside in the next couple of years as things surrounding the game are not moving in directions I am comfortable with. MLB and the NFL have lost me, the only professional sport I still watch is about a half dozen golf events per year.

And if I were a patient on your early morning schedule, I would really appreciate that! It is getting tougher for me to hang in all the way through the PAC 12 After Dark games unless they are compelling so as I get older, I miss some 2nd half plays! But I haven’t had to get up for work in a long time so it is easier. I will say, even in my working days, I would have found a way to make it until midnight for a game like this. But some of these guys are saying they won’t bother to watch even the first half because of lack of interest. And I still call BS on that. It is two reams we have a history with, not some Wazzu vs Las Vegas type meaningless bowl.

The thing that stood out to me in the semis was that Clemson couldn’t generate a pass rush with their front four. Based on everything I’ve seen, Burrow will carve them up if they have to resort to blitzing. Clemson will have some offensive success, but not enough to cover. If Smart and Lanning couldn’t figure out a way to do more than kind of contain LSU, I doubt Clemson is going to find some magic formula.

Well, it’s still early enough that it could still end up gong LSU’s way, but so far Clemson has them confused and floundering on offense. I wouldn’t have figured that. I also didn’t expect them to move the ball quite so easily on LSU. So basically, unless things completely turn, I was roughly 100% wrong.

I read an article about how Clemson went to Iowa State to learn their 3 man d line. that line will be ineffective against Burreaux and he will carve them up like he did our secondary. Second, I listed to a radio interview of Clemson’s radio announcer. He said Clemson wins easily and they will win the next three national championships. That alone is enough for me to pull for LSU.

Georgia’s lackluster offense was surely mostly due to losing all those receivers – you can talk it to death, but the main issue was the receivers, period.
However, for the rest of the story, you need only watch how Clemson is using inventive misdirection, hesitation, etc to fool LSU’s defense and compare that to Georgia’s uninspired and predictable deployment of its own talent.
True, we didn’t have the running QB threat. But regardless, imho there is great disparity in the strategy and creativity on display from these two OC’s when compared to our own.
When I watched the Dawgs, I never once wondered – damn, what was – who’s got the football?!? And I know a lot of that is the running QB, but we could have done more.
