Surrounding cast blues

Your first reaction seeing this stat is probably to wince…

… but I don’t see it as a bad thing.  Newman’s a better quarterback with better personnel around him, something that’s definitely going to be the case in Athens.

Couldn’t agree more. And not to unduly criticize Surratt (I’d be happy to have him in red and black!), but he’s not quite the all-world, sure-handed WR1 UGA fans online have deemed him to be.

Simply put: the difference in skill talent around Newman’s UGA vs. Wake is about as vast as possible for two P5 programs. I think Newman will show out.

    Concur…..

The second most curious I am about a player (new), would be Washington. That is a BIG ole boy.

Not sure if he keeps growing and grows out of the position or not….could grow into a tackle, may stay a TE, who knows.

Hope he is up to the task. Thinks Wolf was underrated last year. Wished we used him more Good speed, decent size….I see him getting drafted.

I have to imagine Jake’s splits would also show a large gap with Cager and without

trues he’s got quite a few more Surratts to work with, plus throwing against our d should force them to develop that rapport quickly.

What should concern all Dawg fans is lack of ball security. Newman tosses too many INT’s for my liking!

  6. UGA’s on field talent level plus coaching staff and sec competition might just make over “Hello Newman” into a qb very, very different from what wake forest had last year, not unrecognizable, just very different on/off the field of play….

Surratt dominated a lot of matchups. The gap between his athleticism and most ACC DBs trying to cover him was stark.

Newman will have a superior supporting cast, but he will also be facing a huge step up in defensive talent.

I think Newman is going to have a strong year, even without the spring work – but if there is a formula for disaster in sports predictions over the years, it’s, “Imagine what he will do with the talent here!” Fails with coaching and players a lot.

  8. I agree he’ll have better surrounding cast members but most QBs need their one guy. That one guy isn’t even always the biggest star, either. With everything that is currently going on, I’m concerned about how much work he’ll be able to put in with his new guys. IF there is even a 2020 season.

My expectations for Newman are very tempered compared to the average UGA fan. I think CKS did as well as possible finding a stop gap for 2020, but I’m not coming into this season with delusional expectations on offense. There will be euphoric highs and excruciating lows on offense. I’m just hoping the defense bails us out on the lows.

Let’s your predictions cease and he clacking of cleats come out of the Indoor Practice Facility, Dressing Room before we tempt to plow asunder.
What we need is more palm readers and fortune tellers. Just go ahead and give me the Dawgs wins and losses and I’ll starting looking for Emerson Hancock to start throwing that nasty curse only to be outdone by the 95mph heater. You are coming back? Right Emerson? Perhaps all sports will be dropped except the revenue extracting money sports. Considering that the baseball, girls basketball, gymnastics, equestrian teams, etc. most likely get 12-14 full scholarships UGA would be losing money if those partial scholarship athletes don’t attend.
Instead of worrying about Hello Newman’s passing stats you might want think about what TFH your gonna do this fall if there’s no college football.
Mickey just stated there million dollar parks might not open till January. Figure out the stats on the dollars that’s gonna cost.

Better cast around him in Athens? At receiver? Pickens yes. The rest? Not so sure. And Georgia still has the same WR coach from last year.
