When you haven’t lost Danny Kanell…

Ah, hell.

“I think you should be massively excited if you are a Georgia fan, for a couple reasons,” Kanell said. “One, because of what you’re bringing back. JT Daniels looked the part. Todd Monken, another year getting that offense kind of developed, getting the players more familiar with it because, remember, they did not have a full offseason. It wasn’t normal. JT Daniels didn’t get to start or play much in the preseason, now he gets to start a handful of games late and he looked good in those. You bring back George Pickens, your top three pass catchers. I know there are losses on the defensive side of the ball, but that’s just where you trust the recruiting classes and trust Kirby. This is going to be a good defense. Are they elite? That’s a question you have to ask and that’s maybe concerning but my biggest issue with Georgia has always been around the offense and I think they should be excited about that.”

Danny even tossed in some Florida shade, to boot.

Now I’m a little worried about Georgia’s 2021 prospects.

I saw a headline about this article on 247, but didn’t want to give DK any clicks. Since he went to FSU, probably not a reach to throw shade at the Gators.

Based on the last two years’ champions being called GOATs, if you can score enough an elite defense may not be necessary.

Far too much optimism. As it stands now, the defensive backfield will feature three players who have never started a game if you include the star position. Those same players only have a handful of snaps between them. DB is arguably more difficult to play early than wr and we saw how that worked out for us at WR in 2019. Unless then can get a couple of blockbuster transfers this team will resemble the 2020 UF team more than the 2020 UAT team.

The good news is that I think all of the secondary starters will have been on campus since at least 2020. I don’t think we’ll need to roll out any guys right out hs.

The two safeties have played and done well. Their jobs are much harder in kirby’s scheme than corner. Corner is usually cover the guy in front of you.

One of those corners will be ringo who is supposed to be a bad ass. So we worry about finding one corner and a star.

      I think we’ll be alright.

Rat poison! My motto for this season – “UGA 2021 – how are we going to f*ck it up this time?!?”

Kanell did something the other day that for maybe the first time in his entire comedians career I completely agreed-with:

He went after all the terrible CFB writers who spent considerable capital and ink trying to get the CFB season cancelled, which included cheering on the B1G and Pac-12 and laying into the SEC in their efforts.

You know, the Fordes, Wolkens, Rovells, Auerbachs, Mandels, Thamels, and Brennan’s of the world. What set him off was Forde’s ridiculous column about if the season was “worth it.” I think he also mentioned Dodd’s all-time worst column where he predicted 3-7 player deaths using an “expert’s” analysis.

Sometimes we get used to someone being wrong all the time, and Kanell has made a habit of being wrong because his schtick is “anti-SEC,” as it also seems Joel Klatt’s is (his bowl take of the SEC was ridiculously bad), but that right there and maybe even this right here is the best definition of a broken clock being right twice a day for Danny Kanell.

Must be fake news since the Florida boards already have threads on Emory Jones’s Heisman odds.

  14. I was already “concerned” about 2021 before Kannell chimed in. Like the 2017 team, some key guys are coming back. Great! What I’m not a fan of is making a big deal about, which didn’t really happen for the 2017 team. Giving it a name and hashtag? Eh.

The 2020 season’s body isn’t even cold and this has already lead to hype that reminds me of another season or two that didn’t come close to matching the hype. I definitely care more about results than the opinion of someone like Kannell but it’s a perfect setup to a “Georgia never lives up to the hype” thing. Of course, those other seasons were under a different coach and Kirby having multiple top 3 classes makes hype nearly unavoidable. I just hope these guys(coaches AND players) go to work like that 2017 team because the 2021 team won’t be surprising anyone.

It’s not like rat poison or pre season happy talk can make UGA (or any other georgia sports college or pro) from being as snake bitten as we have been for decades. At this point I don’t care what the media says. Kirby should be able to soothe any big heads by saying, you ain’t beat bama…and he can use what all our rivals say…1980.
