TFW he’s your guy

What the hell kind of due diligence did Fulmer run when he hired Pruitt?  Did he even bother to pick up the phone and call somebody in Athens, or did he just take Jeremy’s word for it?

If I remember correctly, they leaned heavily on Bama’s recommendation. He was supposedly high on their list, should Saban decide to retire. Big deal about how Bama had a ready list of candidates that has already been through part of the vetting process that did not require contact. And how they thought so highly of Pruitt in Tuscaloosa. In fact, before this season started, Vol fans were already fretting over him leaving for Bama after building the UT dynasty to replace the GOAT.

    Boy that’s a stupid group.

Thinks Saban kept him under his thumb. It would be hard for me to imagine ole Sand Mountain Pruitt succeeding Saban….but who knows.

Probably gonna be very hard for him to find another job, especially a head coaching job. But I guess I have seen crazier.

Dang. Sounds like the Vols biggest rival talked up a shitty coach to damage their program.

I’m not about to call whoever is rating coaches at Alabama stupid.
      LOL!
They were probably trolling JP down the Tennessee River and Fulmer came out from under a log and nailed the bait.
That’s what I’d tell Tennessee fans that complain to “Bama about their evaluation of Pruitt.
      Well done, Alabama!

Maybe you were saying that Tennessee fans are a “stupid group”. If that’s the case I agree with you, Ran A.

So they took they most hated rival’s word for it? Hah. Sounds like KGB-level asset grooming by Bama.

Wow, that article was slightly disappointing because, well, I think we know what we WANTED to read about: The legendary coach’s room fist fight with a certain former UGA running back who would’ve DESTROYED that Bammer redneck had it gone more than a few swings.

My Tennessee fan friend swears up and down that Mark Richt recommended Pruitt for the job when Fat Phil called to check up on him. He said he read it. I didn’t (and still don’t) have the compunction to go searching for that, but given that Mark Richt is a far better man than I am, I can kinda see it, being a good forgiving Christian and all.

Or maybe Evil Mark Richt took over and he saw a way to weaken Tennessee by recommended that dumpster fire of a human being to Fulmer.

Either way, I could see either scenario happening.

I don’t have a subscription to that one, and I have always wanted to hear more details of theses incidents…heard he took a swing at either Richt or Schottenheimer, but hadn’t heard about an RB. Which one, and why? –Tried to get him to try asparagus? –Told JP he knew a few coaches’ wives he could set him up with? Do tell. 🙂

It was about Thomas Brown, who was on staff at the time. Pruitt was badmouthing Richt in a meeting and Brown had enough of his bullshit and they got into a short fight before the other coaches had to pull them apart.

Exactly. There were 2 instances where he went way overboard in regard to coaches. So much so that he want allowed back in BM for a short stint. Nobody will talk about this on the record though

There’s no way Richt gave UT the thumbs up on Jeremy. Is there?

I want to say I remember Richt giving a non-committal comment on Pruitt, which would say a lot knowing him, but I could be making that up.

Pruitt Shhmuitt. The real gem in this story is the line “in violation of the university’s workplace violence policy”. As in, I can’t wait to see Davis, Dean and company in violation of the university’s workplace violence policy this fall.

I am disappointed whenever I see a photo of Pruitt that is not him wearing that ugly ass scarf thing on his head.

Will anyone ever pop out with what happened at Richts’ house with Pruitt that one time? Heard whispers, but never a coherent narrative.

I am kinda surprised no one has trotted out Aaron Murray’s comments about Pruitt back when UT hired him. Pretty prescient, as it turns out. And he took a fair amount of crap for it, as I recall.

Paul Finebaum basically made a me culpa to him on his show from what I understand. https://larrybrownsports.com/college-football/paul-finebaum-wrong-jeremy-pruitt/572173

      • I still think F-bum should have asked Murray to come on his show and apologize to him rather than some BS due to a caller.

I’ve been saying that for a month. He went way over the line with the personal tone of the viciousness he aimed Murray’s way.

But would that be good for ratings?

The schtick is all about driving interest. Stirring controversy. Angering fan bases. Fellate people, like coaches, who serve as guests.

Finebaum knows nothing about football. He knows a lot about what moves the sport’s fans.

Bringing Murray on to grovel doesn’t move any needles for paul so it won’t happen.

I can tell you that he has been nothing but frustrated at his inability to get our fan base to play along. I suggest keeping it that way.

He is/was a puppet master over the bammer and the barners but when they were both up and winning around 2010 and he decided it was time to kick Georgia while we were down, we had better things to do than to call up and go all Phyllis from Mulga on his ass.

I suggest we keep him on ignore.

As this being in his own mind his second time as the program savior. First the Johnny Majors back stabbing and secondly the take over of AD job. He was riding high and as always sure he was the answer. With a dire need to hire a coach quickly he choose the easy hire in Pruitt with Alabama credibility. Plan two was to replace Pruitt with himself once the roster had the needed players. He did not foresee Pruitt being an epic failure.
