“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23

I’ll give them this. They are being mentioned in players top 10, sometimes top 5. That means they are at least working and developing relationships with these kids. It hasn’t transferred to commits. In short – they are going to have to start winning. They are 6-16 in 2 years. The best thing that happened to them last year was not having to play Georgia, who would have drubbed them again.
His first recruiting class (according to 247) was 27th in the country and 5th best in the ACC with 4 – 4 stars. But last year’s class slipped all the way to 11th in the ACC and 47th in the country. He did get a couple of really good players out of the portal – but that kind of slide tells you that the ‘404’ hype went away fairly quick.
In short, he had better start winning. They appear to have put an awful lot of work into rising Juniors and Sophomore. That goes to pieces really quick if you do not show marked improvement. And based on that defense and offensive LOS – I just don’t see it.
He has a 7 year deal with Georgia Tech. But as far as these kids are concerned, he has a 4 (5 tops) year deal or he’s likely done. This year and next year needs to see significant jumps. If they are still sub .500 or even .500 – I doubt he finishes the 7 years. And at that point, Georgia Tech will officially become the Vanderbilt of the ACC.

The year Vince Dooley Stadium is filled with 90% Georgia fans will be officially when Fech becomes the Candy of the ACC.
We need to get on that for this Thanksgiving.

Is that a torn shipping label in the graphic on the right? Are they literally getting trash out of garbage so long as it shows “404” on it??

I support the sentiment of your comment, but no, the “404” is formed by the player gloves. Stupid little clouds added contribute to the mailer looking like it’s torn. I have a title for it, though: “Caca Collage.”

They may own the area code but we all know who runs the state.

You know better than that. They own precisely squat.

I should clarify my comment they may own 404 but they don’t own any of Atlanta especially that ratty little Joke by Coke known as Richt-Smart Field at Vince Dooley Stadium.
Is that better? 😉

Georgia State has a better claim to that area code than they do (and a better record the past two years, with more SEC wins, than Geoff’s NATS)

At best, Tech barely owns an IP address, much less an area code.

Owning an IP address is exactly what Fech nerds would be happy to claim.

They’re the Velveeta of college sports. Bland, easily melts down, limited shelf life, and hard to be taken seriously by knowledgeable folks.

I mean, I respect the hustle. They are getting some big time recruits to consider them with their branding even though it hasn’t translated to commitments yet. I’ll laugh if they flop, but I wouldn’t hate it if they became a more respectable win on our schedule.

I imagine it’s a really difficult sale, going after better recruits to build a program that has been bad and is trying to modernize its offense. It’s a double-edged sword for players. Collins has done a decent job but it’s going to take more than on-field pushups in a blowout.

As I was waiting on the tweet to load within this post, I was waiting to see who it would be. I was worried it might be Big Boi or TI or Luda or someone with some sort of actual juice. And then that guy’s picture popped up.

I’ve posted about this before but the real failure at Fech is the AD. Bad hire after bad hire in most sports. Back when Homer Rice was AD he hired Bobby Ross and they won a natty in football plus he hired Bobby Cremons and they won the ACC title in basketball and made the NCAA Tournament regularly. They also had a successful baseball program. They have had a series of bad ADs who regularly make bad hires. Collins is a symptom of the real problem and he will be gone within 2 years. Until they fix the AD problem Fech will be mired in mediocrity or worse.

Ok, one more time. Tech did NOT win a “Natty” in 1990. It was Colorado. All my friends here in ski & weed country agree.

We’re laughing, but I think the branding angle presented here to recruits is about themselves, not Tech’s brand. Notice the shoe. It’s basically saying “your name here”. They’re being proactive on the NLI issue by hiring a guy specifically to help players market themselves.

I am certain UGA and the rest of the P5 teams have similar folks in place. If not, they will soon.

Yes notice the shoe – it’s damn backwards. As a marketing guy for 20+ years of experience I would be livid at the brand guru you released that piece of creative. Supposedly he has been graphic designer for several different football programs, so I wonder if he approved this announcement or if someone else did. FWIW, big difference between being a graphic designer and actually managing a brand.

I think that is how the font appears on the actual shoe – backward. If thats the case, then correcting the backward font would have been obvious to the people that care – recruits.

Adidas “yeezy” is the shoe. It is supposed to have the backward font. If I knew how to paste the image I would.

Color me unimpressed. If there was one thing that Geoff presented as a possible threat was in recruiting and his hype machine, but this looks so juvenile that even a middle schooler would “whatever” it. It was supposed to be the off the field successes that translated into wins, but I just don’t see them getting the horses to compete against much an improving ACC, let alone Georgia.

Ho Li Phuk!
Jeoff was out of his league when he did those push ups on the sideline after the bumbling bees recovered an onside kick and went on to loose the game 52-7. Recruits understand class. Jeoff doing push ups is hokey, not a class act.
