The circle of life turns again.

This should be fun.

That fourth win is in the bank now, bitches.

Didn’t help the Hillbillies at all, and won’t help the NATS.

How does this guy keep getting recycled? What it is about sports that once you’re in the coaching club, no matter how much you fail, someone is always willing to give you a job?

    • I think this has less to do with Chaney’s appeal and more to do with the fact that he’s probably the best Jee-yoff can do at the moment—not like anybody else is gonna line up to board Tech’s sinking ship.

Still, your point is well taken. Football at both the college and pro levels is like Human Centipede for mediocre coaches.

I ascribe it to the Warm Body Theory, Corch. It’s not a phenomenon particular to sports. You see it in business from CEO’s of large corporations to small companies. Certain folks put themselves out there and dearth of warm bodies lands them the job. The owners or AD’s lack of imagination/understanding exacerbates the situation. In sports this perpetuates losing. In business the company goes under. Yet the same shitheads continue to be hired.
      Unfucknbelievable.

Probably for recruiting too, we’re about to find out how far the “I coached Nick Chubb” will get him on the trail.

I suppose it Jim the opportunity to break Kirby’s balls for depriving him of a natty ring when he couldn’t defend 2nd and 26.

Apparently we don’t remember that Jim was the OC when we had a true freshman qb take us to one play away.

I think its a pretty good fit. No one is lighting up the score board at the Joke, save the visitors. Historically, he’s gotten a respectable amount of offensive production relative to the roster.

      Ah, but he’s an analyst.

“Jeff, I’ve completed my report. Our offense sucks.”

Getting beat 100-0 in their last two games just wasn’t enough information.

Yup, 2nd and 26 is fresh in the mind and the dude earned his millions (i guess?). His TN post did seem like his “I’m outta here” last job. It’s hard to argue that our offense was top of the league when he was our OC. Moar wacky CFB wackiness. Same as it ever was.

Chaney was a perfectly “fine, I guess” offensive coordinator, provided he had talent to work with, and also that was 5 years ago.

Trek is doomed anyway, but they really need to be zagging when everyone’s zigging, and hiring a replacement-level OC years past his prime ain’t that.

When he went to the Vols originally I thought the narrative was a nice multi year contract that would enable him to retire to a home he had in the area after a few years. If that was the plan, looks like it didn’t go as expected

That sort of thing only works out if your head coach doesn’t turn out to be such an asshole that your school will turn itself in to the NCAA for recruiting violations just to get rid of the guy. Ol’ Chaney wasn’t enough of an offensive wizard to make the Vols put up with Jeremy’s bullshit.

  10. Chaney is no slouch but he doesn’t have near the talent to work with on the flats. Maybe he is thinking they will turn it over to him after Collins is gone.
