The loafing legend

Brenton Cox swears he’s turning over a new leaf in his final season at Florida.

“I can’t make all the plays, but the ones that I could have gone harder on I took off,” Cox said Tuesday. “I can honestly say I took off a couple plays but I’m here to make it up.”

I’m pretty sure this is one of them.

“It’s been a discussion that I don’t play hard, so he’s been preaching to me that if you’re not at the TV box by the time the play is over then it’s a ‘loaf,’ you’re not running to the ball,” Cox said. “That’s helped me turn the other way and get going when I’m done with my rush.”

Yep.  That was a loaf.

  1. Remember how upset we were when that guy initially chose OSU over us!

    Undisciplined ass.

The only reason that guy’s not in year 2 of his nfl career is his attitude. The ability/potential is there.

“It’ll definitely be personal,” said the FU loaf about playing against UGA football, sooooo he’s gonna’ be a half loaf this FU season, is that his bread and butter, he’s got a better chance of representing Wonder Bread as a whole loaf, then Pepperidge Farms as a half, smaller loaf…#FTMF

  3. Yeah but he pointed so the other guys would know who to tackle. Gotta give him credit for that. LOL.

I bet you could find similar occasions if you go back to the 2018 SECCG and Cox trying to contain Jalen Hurts. Maybe I can give him benefit of a doubt for that game because Alabama NEVER holds.

I read the linked article. Cox is sort of bragging that coaching tips taught him to learn to play hard.
If he has to be taught tips for how to give his full effort he won’t last long in the NFL.

Eh, don’t worry, I’m sure he thinks motivation won’t be a problem in the league because he’ll be making money. He won’t last long.

GSD, I’ll guarantgotdamtee you that Cocks was coached to play hard every down all the down by coaches and upper classmen at UGA. That failing, Cocks was coached to find another team to sloth up.
      Kirby don’t play that shit.

You guys are so mean to the young man just because he couldn’t earn his PT at Georgia. It was SBIV the National Championship QB he was chasing.

There are so many examples of this on tape from Cox. The funnier part of this play though is that he had no shot of catching our former walk-on QB. Lololol.

    “I can’t make all the plays…”

Gotta admit this only makes me like the guy more. If he didn’t exist, we’d have to invent him …and send him to fu as a gift.

Most people heading to Florida intend to relax on vacation. May as well apply to their players.

  9. That play in the Cocktail Party made me cackle out loud while I was watching it. Cox will be lucky to be a sixth- or seventh-round pick in a year’s time.

He should really be playing for Geoff Collins. That is a match made in football heaven.

You don’t suddenly and miraculously find your “motor” at this stage of your career. I’m even more convinced now that he left UGA because there were whispers in his ear encouraging him to find another team (or ride the pines).

Even that one year when he was a Dawg, he was really already a ‘turd.

I can see the PFF analyst write up on Cox about this time next year now:

    Areas of strength:
Physical ability – checks all the boxes
    Tons of upside

    Areas of weakness:
    Tends to loaf
    Actually is a loaf

Compare Cox’s effort versus that of Trayvon Walker in the National Championship Game. Trayvon chased a receiver 40 yards down the field. If you’re just now talking about giving maximum effort in year 5 it’s probably too late.

My guess is that Stetson had seen that loaf plenty of times in practice

No wonder he didn’t get play time at UGA and left with that half ass effort in a huge game.. Can’t imagine how he dogged it at practice. Glad he’s gone.

There’s a reason he didn’t stick around Athens.

But who knows? Maybe Billy feels like he can help him grow (or, more likely, Billy needs bodies).

Mailman ran the same play against Bama, but he even dribbled the ball just to rub it in.
