Talk of Georgia three-peating as national champion has become the topic du jour in college football.
Seems like just yesterday the Dawgs had gone four decades without a national title. Now they’ve won two in a row, and it’s never too early to look ahead in a sport that never sleeps.

Aha! The more players you lose, the better the team becomes.
They get practice, reserve game time, backup game time, starter game time, then leave. Everyone steps up a level. Backup and below are hungry. Only mature starters devoted to team stay. The real process! That and recruit stars AND culture. Love me some Kirbs!

We all saw what the Dawgs are capable of in the latest National Championship, which UGA won 65-7 in case y’all forgot.
The 2023 version will be better. I’m not sure if they can go undefeated and/or win the NC for a threepeat because shit happens. There is no better team or coaching staff. Georgia has become a destination for serious people.

AD was great, but AD couldn’t have caught the pass Jacksaint did vs. UT for instance.

Just pointing out that, as good as AD was in the red and black, Kirby has proven himself able to solve roster problems and Monken has proven himself able to scheme around players’ absences. Would we have beaten Bama and anOSU w/out AD? No idea, but I’m too impressed by Kirby and Monken to say, ‘no.’

Why wouldn’t Georgia have made it through the playoffs? What did Mitchell do in that Ohio State game that nobody else on the roster could have done? Y’all are amazing.

Totally agree. Some folks act like Bowers, McConkey, Jackson, et al. were just wandering around the field aimlessly. Somehow we managed to win every game that AD missed (wasn’t he out for something like 8-9 games?).

The only thing that worries me about 2023 is that our schedule is softer than Charmin. It’s not going to prepare the Dawgs in any way for Atlanta and the Playoff.

That’s important, and of course the players will say practices are tougher than games, but practices are also something games aren’t: Scripted.
You need to face adversity on Saturdays, or at least believe you’re about to face adversity, to be able to show your mettle.
The Dawgs likely believed Oregon would put up a fight and mentally prepared accordingly. They definitely didn’t believe Mizzou would put up a fight, but they kept their heads and prevailed in a game no one saw coming.
My hope is there’s one or two Mizzou-like games next season to ensure the team is battle-tested and prepared, because guys, I’m telling y’all, LSU is going to be GOOD next season. Really, really good.

Especially because all of the idiot media are already picking Bama to win the West this upcoming season, even though they have a ton of holes on offense and defense and haven’t had the kind of coaches that can develop talent in awhile.
LSU is the one team, other than Tosu, I think the Dawgs actually need to worry about in 2023.
If Saban were to somehow be able to hire Coach Potato Head, that could change the calculus. I just don’t know if it’s possible given his upcoming show-cause penalty, but St. Nick has pulled plenty of miracles out of his ass over the years, so I can no longer say it definitely isn’t going to happen.

The yard chickens, the east alabama reform schoool, the ditch lizards, and the blue pussycats will all give us good looks and a chance to go hunting on Saturdays before Atlanta. The show me state cats are in for an asswhupp’n tween the hedges!! Also, I feel that the bumbling bees will give us a good look for a couple of quarters at Mark Richt field.

Practices aren’t games, no matter how hard they are, because practices are controlled. They’re scripted. You need to face that adversity on Saturday in uncontrolled situations to truly know you can do what you need to do.

I’m with Corch. Let’s say you draw an incompetent officiating crew (any crew with Curles, for example), and the team gets bombarded with non-reviewable bad calls. Can they respond?
Just think about how many missed holding calls and questionable PI calls we saw during the season. Those don’t get simulated at practice, AFAIK.

True. We have sustained the most injuries over the time I have watched UGA 45+ years) vs Kentucky. Seemingly always when we played them 1 or 2 weeks prior to UF.

When you’re playing backups in the third and fourth quarters (see Clemson before Dawgs broke them) you’re protecting your starters and seconds from injuries. Not that it’s good to get injuries to your backups, but it does protect the guys that you’ll need in the tougher games.

I’ll give you the complete surprise that was the Mizzou game but remember when it came time for the rubber to meet the road, we plowed right through them. The defense was young and with another spring they should revert back to their suffocating ways.
If we are able to hold on to Monk the offense will be better, maybe. I personally will miss the Big 0, watching him block was a thing of gory beauty. SVP coming back was huge, he will be a great help with the new QB in that he can ID the Mike and protect the interior. Championships are won but the “big uglies” and we are going to be ok up front. Which ever QB gets the keys to the offense will be driving a sports car in the shape of a tank. If we get beat it will be on us and not the opponent. Go Dawgs
