Signs of the offseason

Two of the bigger debates that have cropped up in my Twitter feed over the past week are (1) who is and who isn’t a DGD; and (2) whether Alabama or Oklahoma gets to take credit for Jalen Hurts.

I should probably go back to bed now.

I would imagine it is a very good thing then, Senator, that you probably are not reading the college football subreddit on Reddit, r/CFB. Those Twitter discussions seem high-minded by comparison.

Earlier in the season, that sub was taken over by Tennessee fans posting shit about Hooker and playoff aspirations on a daily basis. It warms my heart to see zero of it on the front page now.

  3. This DGD discussion is based on what is Mitchell’s legacy at UGA after his decision to go to Texas. It’s definitely a personal criteria when throwing that term around. I’ll admit I have a high standard for that designation personally.

Hard concur – its difficult to put someone in the top tier when they leave for a competitor…. He’s a good player, appreciate all he did and hope it works out the best for him. Plus there’s a chance Texas is back (again) next year and we meet up with them, and now everyone who’s crowned him treats him like a heel, which isn’t good for anyone IMO….

      • I compare him with Dom Blaylock. Dom fought through 2 injuries, kept working and playing and is supposed to graduate in May before transferring. He goes down as a DGD in my book. Mitchell was a clutch player for us, but this decision to me keeps me from using the term for him. Of course, YMMV.

Granted his AWOL in the 2022 season recap hype video put out by the team… I’d say there’s an answer there.

Here a good one to ponder – How can Steston not have a 4 year degree yet? He’s been in school long enough to have a phd.

This does not make me rethink my decision to get rid of my Twitter account a few years ago.

I know you can’t for obvious reasons, but getting rid of Twitter did loads of good for my blood pressure, mental health, and overall outlook on life, Senator.

Yeah, it’s been over two years for me, and the one thing I’ve found is I’m happier.

Social Media, in any form, is the single-worst invention in human history. I believe that.

I closed my business about the time of the demise of the Playpen. That along with Covid social distancing and the requisite isolation it entails and I haven’t had to talk to anyone online or in person for the last two years unless I wanted to. I’ve never been happier.

  7. Senator, you could expand the blog to cover UGA’s other great sport where we excel….golf. 😜 Derek vs Corch over impact of the LIV tour will be lit.

    • If you follow any golf pages on social media, most of the commenters who support LIV are the worst. I don’t think I could spend 4 hours on the course with any of them.

Personally, I don’t care about LIV, but the whining from the players that the PGA Tour should ignore the membership agreements they signed, so they can play is ridiculous.

I read a comment on 247 where a guy is going to rewatch one game per week, with a bye, and it will end up with no gaps until the opener.

Don’t forget all the Ohio State types, and Corch, claiming credit for Jow Burrow.

The DGD debate has been on my Twitter, too, and I’ve avoided it. I have my own personal standards for who I call a Damn Good Dawg – but if someone else’s standards aren’t the same as my own, why in the Hell am I going to reach out and try to shout them down about it? Jeez – people can have an opinion that’s different from my own about a player and their rightful place in the pantheon of those who have played all or part of their career at UGA.

  10. Speaking of college football Twitter, has anyone checked on Ms. Auerbach mental state since SBIV won the Manning Award?
