- Most surprising thing about this poll? That better than forty percent of the participants aren’t willing to pay more on their cable bills for the SEC Network. Least surprising? That more than a quarter of them would be interested in a Finebaum show on the network.
- Do you care about this? I don’t.
Get The Picture 
I think we should care about AM and the NFL. It is a good indicator of how we are developing talent overall, it helps recruiting and let us not discount the fact that it pisses off the Bammers that Brandt rated Murray higher than McCarron.

Every time a scout or writer ranks Murray’s development ahead of AJ’s is another bullet that UGA recruiters can use against Alabama, and as we all know Georgia needs all the ammo it can get in that battle. McCarron is a good quaterback and probably even a great one. But he wasn’t the reason why Alabama beat Georgia in the SEC Championship Game. Murray wasn’t either. Georgia can walk into any high school quarterback’s living room and tell him that UGA does the best job in the SEC of preparing quarterbacks for the NFL. If Murray can somehow pan out in the league, all it will do is bolster that argument.

I picked up the AJC Sports page yesterday at the White House and read the IV with the Fish Fry. Short version- if we had beaten VA Tech and Miami we would have been in top 25, blah blah, excuse, excuse, fans and media stupid, blah blah blah . Let’s beat them by 50 this year. Complete. Arrogant. Toad.

Bernie should win a pulitzer for that piece. He absolutley conveys the emotions and the give and take of that night…It was a balm to my pain to read. He doesn’t miss a thing. It’s great. Read it. But I still can’t watch the replay. Yes, it’s a game for the ages, and I’ll watch it someday (maybe after the Clemson game if UGA wins).

Two things about that SEC championship game.
1) In both the first half and much more crucially in the second, with Bama facing 3rd down Georgia called timeout to set the defense only to have Bama convert anyway. Think some people on the sideline would like to have had that timeout back for the final drive?
2) How different is the perception of the game if the call on Milliner’s interception isn’t overturned? Bama kneels a couple times and the game ends with the same score but without the brink of success possiblity on the final play. Would Richt/Murray have taken less heat if it had ended that way?

That is a sobering and true observation. They would have taken hellaceous heat that would have set this blog back two years. Overturning was the correct call, but it was close ….to THE end.
