Man, if there’s one thing worse than being mocked by Steve Spurrier…

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
Q: What’s worse than getting snarked by SOS?
A: Getting praised by him in a way that’s STILL snarky, but makes his program look better in the process.

Give Dabo a little time. He usually comes up with some good retaliatory responses to the old man

Clemson at least has won something in the last few years. South Carolina has never even appeared in a BCS bowl game. Sure, Darth Visor has had Clemson’s number, but the Chicken Curse/inferiority complex seems to be wearing on the old man. He needs to go hang out on his boat with a few beers and his shirt off (sorry, I hope no one is eating right now) and let USCe football return to its days of below mediocre performance.

True, but Clemson only made BCS bowl games over South Carolina because of the two-team conference limit on BCS bowl games. Otherwise, the Cocks certainly would have played in one recently.

Clemson has a lot more football tradition than the Cocks ever had – a national championship, multiple ACC championships, and a more consistent winning tradition. The cocks only have themselves to blame for not appearing in a BCS game.

I’ve noticed over the years that Spurrier is a good loser but a terrible winner. He rarely makes excuses when he’s beaten. “They were just better’n us.” But he’s insufferable when he wins, especially against a rival. Can anyone think of someone else who’s such a deplorable winner? Obama comes to mind but he rarely wins at much of anything these days.

Florida, Bama fans. Although, until VERY recently they (UF) were terrible losers too.

I’ve heard Spurrier make excuses after a loss when that loss was to UGA.

On the other hand…who’s really insufferable when they lose and humble when they win? Auburn comes to mind…
And whol is dickish either way? Tennessee. GT. Alabamer.
Who is gracious either way? Missouri comes to mind.

Give Missouri time. They just haven’t learned the art of being Southern.

I actually think Steve was trying to be gracious. The problem is he has no clutch in his brain, nor sense of timing. He’s a classic ready, fire, aim, walking impulse.
