Mark Richt ain’t afraid of no attrition.

You know, it’s not like this has to be a daily occurrence.

Two things about this.  One, assuming this was in the works, it makes the Langley switch more understandable.  Georgia loses at least two front line receivers after this season and maybe three if Malcolm Mitchell stays in one piece and has the kind of year we know he’s capable of.

Second, he is the first of the four kids who got in trouble over Checkgate to have his situation resolved.  LeMay had the most charges of the four and was the only one found to have taken a teammate’s paper to double dip.  Coincidence?  You tell me.

  1. Mostly, I think it’s just he wasn’t going to play much.

I thought it was a mistake when we recruited him, though it may have been related to his brother (which was also a mistake at the time – but we had given our word by the time it was apparent).

Mostly, I think it’s just CMR running him off because of CheckGate but doing it in a way that it doesn’t ruin the kid’s reputation and chances at another school. And, yes, he wasn’t going to play much.

The transfer is not coincidence. The Langley switch to receiver is. From outside the arena.

As you alluded to, I think this must have been in the works regarding Langley’s switch. With that said, the rate of attrition is beginning to worry me.

On a lighter note … If LeMay was going to double dip, maybe he should’ve brushed up on the subject first.

    The “classic” double dip:

    The “contemporary” double dip:

Is it not settled Georgia Way science that roster management and team chemistry are in some way mysterious interrelated? So while Mark may have control of displacement reactions, he may still have lost control of reduction reactions

Actually, I think there’s been a change. I’ve sensed it. And I suspect, like other changes, it’s because Richt has listened to Pruitt and concluded that, ‘hey, here’s another thing that’s better than what we’ve been doing.’

            Give Richt credit for that.

Could be wrong, but I hope that’s what it is. For years, I’ve been preaching we can have efficient roster management without compromising principals .. either’s Richt’s personal or the University’s. We just haven’t been doing it.

Assuming we might now go a couple of weeks without additional attrition, it’s increasingly clear the ’14 Dawgs will be an outfit with large strengths harnessed to one big weakness and a question mark. When Phil Steele’s unit ratings come out, I betcha Georgia is in the top five nationally at RB, WR and LB. That would be amazing, and usually the sign of a serious national championship contender. But Lord only knows where we would rank in the secondary (not in the top 50), and the OL rating has to be relatively mediocre at present.
