Dial up the latest Seth and Gentry Show to around the 32:17 mark and hear a pretty good breakdown from one of the Clemson beat writers on where the Tigers stand and how they’ll likely match up with Georgia in the opener.
Sounds like his two keys for the game are Todd Gurley and Georgia’s pass rush. Agree? Disagree?

UPDATE: Speaking of Todd Gurley, key…
Gurley….Gurley…Gurley….
That said, we need to feed the ball to Gurley.

Hell, we might even return a punt or something.

I enjoyed this and came away feeling much better about the Clemson game. The beat writer for the Tigers does not sound impressed with Clemson’s OL and he was skeptical the WR will be a go for the UGA game, which means even if he does, he’s unlikely to be 100%.

geechee talk, designed to do nothing more than to confuse and befuddle any of the wiles we may have coming in to this game. nothing more than a potion poured into our ears.

Every good secondary starts up front. With consistent pressure on their inexperienced QB by Floyd and co., I feel really good about this game. If defense and speacial teams can give the offense a short field to work with, good guys win BIG.

And the key to Todd Gurley?

Senator, was there ever any final word on how many USC freshmen football players were denied admittance?

Not sure. I know the two DBs who went down to the wire both got in and are practicing with the team.

* Bobby Petrino says he’s changed. But in reporting a story about the new Louisville coach that is in SI’s college football preview, it appears Petrino is still just as difficult to work and play for. Sources with ties to the Cardinals’ football program and Petrino said there’s significant friction between Petrino and feisty defensive coordinator Todd Grantham. The two have feuded often since Grantham’s hiring in January.
So much that one source insists Petrino would have already gotten rid of Grantham if not for his guaranteed five-year contract that pays him nearly $1 million annually. He came to Louisville after four seasons as Georgia’s defensive coordinator. “He’s stuck with him,” a source said.

Word is that Petrino caught Grantham riding his motorcycle.

Saw the UGA v USCe 1980 replay on SEC TV. Little snippet from Dooley and announcers was how Georgia O was predicated on a back that could carry for 35 rushes per game. Can’t imagine that even being tried today, yet suspect if any one could, it would be Gurley and we could make it work for us.
Sighhhhh….the old days.

What made it more amazing is that everyone knew HW was getting the ball and tried to get a helmet on him but he still got his carries and his yards. It was sweet, sweet that Georgia beat out Clemson for Hershel’s services…it was a recruiting war.

Hate to start with the negative waves, but outside of Jarvis I can’t recall a whole lot of a pass rush. Grrrr. Maybe Grantham made them count to three before they could rush the passer.

They were second in the conference in sacks in 2011 and 2013 and fifth in 2012. It’s one of the few areas in which they excelled under Grantham.

Do y’all remember that deush bag Clemson fan that made that little video of himself at his computer before the game last year? He basically talked shit about how great Clem’s son was going to be and how bad we sucked and we UGA fans were all stupid etc. He didn’t seem, like his mama and daddy had to worry about him getting a girl pregnant while he was away at school. I don’t know why I would torches myself but I wonder if he has made another one this year.

You just want to see if he still has that purty mouth.

Lol. Nah. I want to see if he is as cocky as he was last year. The Clemson people had gone crazy before last season. And Musberger and the world wide leader doing that ridiculous pre game circus where they freaked out over the Clem’s son bus circling the stadium. I was laughing my ass off.

It would be appropriate to point out in response to the tweet that Gurley missed about half the game with an injury. Hopefully with better conditioning and better luck we can avoid that this year. Also, for a 75 yard TD run, that big run for Gurley sucked (losing Gurley for half the game and losing Mitchell for the season).

I thought about that, too. Clemson doesn’t know it yet, but other than that one play, they haven’t seen the real Gurley.
